Nintendo frequently draws on fond memories, and they’re doing it again with a new device inspired by the original Game Boy. This isn’t surprising, especially considering the Pokémon franchise recently celebrated its 30th anniversary on February 27, 2026. Nintendo marked this milestone with several announcements, including one that quietly celebrates both the classic Game Boy and the enduring popularity of Pokémon.
On February 27, 2026, the official Pokémon channel announced a new mini jukebox inspired by the original Game Boy. This device is designed to look like a small Game Boy and celebrates the 1996 release of Pokémon Red & Blue, offering fans a nostalgic “audio tour through Kanto.” While it doesn’t play games, it’s packed with Pokémon artwork, classic box art, and iconic sounds and music from the franchise, all neatly stored in its own case.
Nintendo’s Game Boy Mini Jukebox Is All About Pokémon

This isn’t just a miniature Game Boy with a cool design; it’s a nostalgic trip back to the late 1990s when Pokémon dominated handheld gaming. It comes with 45 collectible cartridges and a case to store them. While it looks like an original Game Boy – complete with screen and buttons – it’s purely for display. Don’t buy it expecting to play classic monochrome games! Instead, it plays music and sound effects from Pokémon Red and Pokémon Blue.
Turn on the sound and get ready to relive the 90s! The Game Music Collection lets you experience the classic sounds of the original Game Boy. Enjoy a trip down memory lane with 45 cartridges filled with music from the beloved Pokémon Red and Pokémon Blue games.

It plays 45 songs and musical sounds from the games:
This list details key moments and locations from the Pokémon game. It begins with the start screen and Professor Oak’s lab, then follows the player’s journey through various towns and routes like Pallet Town, Viridian City, Pewter City, and Cerulean City. It highlights battles with wild Pokémon, rival trainers, and Gym Leaders, as well as important events like encountering Jigglypuff, traveling on the S.S. Anne, obtaining the Poké Flute, and exploring locations such as Viridian Forest, Mt. Moon, Lavender Town, Celadon City, and Cinnabar Island. The game also features encounters with Team Rocket and culminates in a final battle with the player’s rival and entry into the Hall of Fame.
The Pokémon Red & Pokémon Blue Game Music Collection: Game Boy Jukebox is currently listed as “Unavailable” on the product website, which is disappointing considering its affordable price of $69.99. It’s unknown if it quickly sold out or is temporarily out of stock, but it likely sold out fast. Hopefully, the Pokémon Center will restock it soon, though they’re limiting purchases to one per customer. I’ll keep checking for availability and will update this article if I find one, letting everyone know when it’s back in stock.
I’m so hyped for the Game Boy Mini Jukebox! Seriously, I can’t wait to get my hands on one. Let’s all chat about it – head over to the ComicBook Forum and share your thoughts!
