Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 owners are disappointed to learn some news about a popular role-playing game. Last year was fantastic for RPG fans, with the release of Hogwarts Legacy, which became one of the best-selling RPGs ever. However, despite already being available on both Switch and Switch 2, and being 2023’s best-selling game overall, Hogwarts Legacy wasn’t considered the best RPG of the year.
For those who love role-playing games, Baldur’s Gate 3 was the clear winner of 2023, and many consider it one of the greatest RPGs ever made. It also proved to be a commercial success. There was a lot of talk that Larian Studios’ award-winning game would eventually come to the Nintendo Switch, and when that didn’t materialize, people assumed it would be released for the next Nintendo console. However, it now seems the game won’t be coming to either system.
New Report About BG3 Coming to Nintendo Platforms
According to Nate the Hate, a trusted source of Nintendo information, a Switch 2 version of Baldur’s Gate 3 is unlikely. While Larian Studios is interested in bringing the game to the platform, Nate reports that issues between Larian and its publishers, Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast, are preventing the port from happening anytime soon. Though Nate’s predictions aren’t always accurate, he has successfully leaked information in the past.
According to an industry source, Larian Studios wants to release Baldur’s Gate 3 on the Switch 2, but their working relationship with Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast is strained. The source heard late last year that a Switch 2 version wasn’t going to happen, but wanted further confirmation before reporting it.
Keep in mind that this information isn’t official and could change. While it’s current as of now, things might be different in the future. So far, no one involved has responded to this report. We don’t anticipate any changes, but we’ll let you know if anything new develops.
