Many people’s professional paths in music production were sparked by the original PS1, as it provided a firsthand experience of music creation for numerous individuals through the game titled “Music” developed by Jester Interactive.
Multiple digital audio workstations have been launched on different PlayStation consoles over time, with Beaterator (endorsed by Timbaland) being one of them for the PSP.
Now, the PS5 is set to feature a collection of KORG synthesizers, offering a genuine music production environment right at your home console.
The official description explains:
As a gaming aficionado diving into the world of music production, let me tell you about the KORG Gadget for PlayStation. It’s packed with 16 essential gadget instruments designed for creating tunes. Among these, you’ll find a variety of exclusive synthesizers and two drum machines ready to go. Each gadget offers advanced adjustable parameters, allowing you to swiftly generate an array of sounds that will spark your creativity. The best part? You’ll be able to find inspiring sounds quickly and effortlessly!

For a fraction of what you’d pay for professional-grade digital audio workstations (DAWs) like Ableton Live or ProTools, this device offers an economical starting point for aspiring musicians, much like how PlayStation 1 games provided an affordable gateway to gaming back in the day.
Unfortunately, the console doesn’t have a WAV file export function, making it difficult to save your work in high quality, and this isn’t an optimal situation.
For beginners, you’ll start with seven tracks to experiment with, with additional tracks expected to be included in a forthcoming update.
The 3D-styled user interface, allowing you to switch between various tools by flipping through them, appears thoughtfully designed, yet there may be some difficulty adjusting the settings for each synth on a DualSense controller.
Despite the claim, KORG characterizes this product as an innovative music production studio, delivering an exceptionally engaging experience unmatched by other software and taking your creative abilities to unprecedented levels.
Have you been searching for this, or do you value the versatility of a computer for your musical composition tasks? Feel free to share an awesome synthesizer sound in the comment area beneath!
