The value of a rare physical copy of Star Wars Racer Revenge for PlayStation 4 has increased dramatically. This is because people discovered the game disc can be used to modify, or ‘jailbreak,’ a PlayStation 5 console.
Sony’s latest PlayStation can play games originally made for the PS4. While you can buy the racing game from LucasArts – first released on the PlayStation 2 – digitally through the PlayStation Store, having the physical disc is beneficial because it won’t receive automatic updates.
It seems that people are finding ways to modify the PS5’s software by adding code during the 12.0 update – but Sony will likely try to prevent this from happening once they become aware of it.
The game is currently selling for as much as $400 on eBay, and prices might even go higher because it was a limited release. Only 8,500 copies were ever made, which explains the high demand.
