Off Campus reaches major new milestone for Prime Video only 12 days after release

The series ‘Off Campus’ has quickly become a huge hit for Prime Video, suggesting that adaptations of all five books in the series are likely to happen, which is great news for fans.

This romantic story centers on Hannah Wells, a musician and student, who pretends to date popular hockey player Garrett Graham. Her real goal isn’t Garrett, though – she’s hoping to catch the eye of Justin, the lead singer of a band.

The series, adapted from Elle Kennedy’s books, has quickly become popular with both existing fans and new viewers – and Prime Video’s latest numbers confirm its success.

Okay, let me tell you, “Off Campus” is a hit. The streaming service just announced it’s their third most-watched debut season ever, racking up a whopping 36 million views in its first twelve days. That’s serious numbers! Only two shows have launched bigger: the massive, big-budget spectacles “The Rings of Power” and “Fallout”. So, if you haven’t checked it out yet, you might be missing something!

It’s important to note that Prime Video hasn’t clarified what counts as a ‘view.’ This means even watching just a few seconds of a show could be counted, rather than requiring someone to watch a full episode.

Even so, it’s a remarkable achievement, and Peter Friedlander, an executive at Amazon MGM Studios, shared that the company is “thrilled to see such an enthusiastic community unite.”

As a big fan of Off Campus, I was thrilled to hear they’d already greenlit a second season before the first one even dropped! Looking back, that was a really smart decision. I’m hearing they’re planning to start filming pretty soon, which is amazing news!

Louisa Levy, the creator who adapted the books, shared with TopMob that she’s eager to continue the show for as many seasons as Prime Video wants to fund. That’s great news for viewers hoping to see more of the potential love interests at Briar University.

I’ve seen a lot of chatter comparing this show to Heated Rivalry, but honestly, the way it’s put together feels much more like Bridgerton. We touched on this in our Off Campus review, and the similarities are definitely there in terms of overall structure and pacing. It’s less about the hockey romance angle and more about how the story unfolds, building tension and relationships in a familiar, yet effective, way.

Alongside the main characters, Hannah and Garrett, the first season also featured supporting characters who will have their own romantic storylines in upcoming books. Logan, played by Antonio Cipriano, and Grace Ivers, played by India Fowler, are expected to be the focus of the next one.
