Olivia Rodrigo Makes Rare Comment About Taylor Swift Feud Speculation

Paying attention to online scrutiny is a bad idea for Olivia Rodrigo, right?

When asked about being seen leaving a Paul McCartney concert with Taylor Swift – whom she’s reportedly been feuding with – the singer, known for her song “Drop Dead,” quickly responded.

Olivia addressed social media rumors on The New York Times’ Popcast podcast, saying she doesn’t pay much attention to them. She explained that such speculation is just something that comes with being in the public eye and is to be expected.

She explained that obsessing over every online rumor or guess about her life and relationships would be overwhelming. Simply put, she doesn’t have the time to deal with it all.

The 23-year-old singer said the speculation surrounding her 2021 hit song “Driver’s License”—which many believed was inspired by a love triangle with Sabrina Carpenter and Joshua Bassett—helped her learn to distance herself from online rumors about her personal life.

She explained that she needed to emotionally distance herself from the situation to cope. It was a really difficult time for everyone involved, and she realized she needed to learn to detach – something she’s still working on today, by not oversharing with people who aren’t close to her. She believes it’s essential for maintaining her mental well-being.

Olivia had previously denied that her popular 2023 song “Vampire” was inspired by her strained relationship with Taylor. Taylor received a songwriting credit on Olivia’s song “Deja Vu” in July 2021, several months after it was first released. The two singers haven’t been seen interacting publicly since then.

She was surprised people tried to guess the meaning behind her songs, as she explained to The Guardian in 2023. She prefers not to reveal who—or what—inspires her music, something she’s never done and doesn’t plan to start. She believes it’s best to let listeners interpret the songs for themselves, rather than limiting their meaning to a single interpretation.

Olivia said she and Taylor are not feuding and that there’s no animosity between them.

The former Disney star told Rolling Stone that she doesn’t hold grudges and prefers to stay out of drama. She’s very laid-back and mostly keeps to herself, only really talking to her four close friends and her mom. She says there isn’t much else to share.

She mentioned there are a lot of conspiracy theories on Twitter, but she only pays attention to those about aliens.

In January 2024, Bobby (the second person from the left in the picture) spoke about rumors of a disagreement with Tan (in the middle). This came two months after Bobby announced he was leaving Queer Eye after being on the show for eight seasons.

He assured Vanity Fair that he and Tan are doing okay. He explained they went through a personal issue, but it’s separate from their work on the show and wasn’t a romantic matter. He wanted to make that clear.

In March 2024, Tan addressed claims that he tried to get his friend Jeremiah Brent to replace Bobby on the show Queer Eye.

Netflix and the production team held extensive auditions. I didn’t recommend my friend for the role, but they ultimately landed it because they were the most qualified. I also want to be clear that I didn’t help them get the part by sabotaging anyone else, as he explained in an Instagram post.

During a September 2023 game of “Stir the Pot” with her daughter, Kelly Osbourne, on TopMob News, Sharon Osbourne revealed that she considered Topher Grace, of “That ’70s Show” fame, to be the rudest celebrity she’d ever encountered. She described him as a very rude and unpleasant person.

He did not respond to her remarks publicly.

Five years ago, Sharon shared with Larry King that Ashton seemed upset when he was on The Talk in 2014, after she mispronounced his name.

I remember him asking me, completely out of the blue, about who I was and what I’d accomplished in this business. Honestly, I was taken aback! I just fired back, telling him he had no idea who he was messing with – I basically said I’d completely destroy him if he tried anything. I wanted to make it crystal clear he didn’t understand what he was up against.

In August 2022, Cassadee Pope and Maren Morris publicly disagreed with Brittany Aldean, wife of country singer Jason Aldean, after Brittany posted a video on Instagram. In the video, she thanked her parents for not allowing her to transition genders during a phase where she preferred traditionally masculine interests, stating she now enjoys a feminine lifestyle.

In a 2022 TikTok trend, JoJo Siwa called Candace Cameron Bure the “rudest” celebrity she’d met, explaining that Bure once turned down her request for a photo on the red carpet. Soon after, Cameron Bure apologized publicly, saying she regretted hurting Siwa’s feelings when she was eleven and that she was truly sorry for not taking the picture.

Look, I’m all about second chances, and things were definitely smoothed over with my former colleague. But recently, I was asked about the future of holiday movies on Great American Family, where I’m leading the creative side. Honestly, my focus is on stories that celebrate traditional marriage. That’s really where we see our core audience connecting with the content, and that’s what we’re committed to delivering.

JoJo, who publicly shared they are part of the LGBTQ+ community in 2021, said on Instagram that the actress’s remark was offensive and caused pain to many people.

In June 2021, Courtney Love claimed Olivia Rodrigo had copied the album cover art for Hole in a promotional photo without giving credit. Olivia responded with a supportive message, saying, “Love u and live through this sooooo much.” Courtney then playfully replied, “Olivia – you’re welcome. If you want the details for my favorite florist in Notting Hill, London, DM me! I’m looking forward to reading your note! 😉”

While on Watch What Happens Live, the Happy Days actor explained why he and the Forrest Gump star didn’t get along while filming the 1989 movie Turner & Hooch.

I directed the movie for thirteen days, and then Jeff Katzenberg, the producer, called me into his office and told me to pack up and go home, saying I had everything I needed.

I remember hearing Winkler talk about working with Hanks’ dog, and it was so heartwarming! He really connected with the animal – he said they got along wonderfully, and he just absolutely loved that dog!

He also refused to admit if he’s even seen the flick.

“You know what you did!”

Anyone who watched The Hills probably remembers Lauren’s famous line from the start of season three. The drama between her and Heidi began when Heidi started dating Spencer Pratt. It really exploded, though, when Lauren claimed Heidi and Spencer spread a false rumor that she’d made a sex tape with her boyfriend at the time, Jason Wahler.

As someone who keeps a close eye on Hollywood dynamics, let me tell you, the tension between some of the Fast & Furious stars has been brewing for a while! It really flared up back in 2017 when Tyrese publicly called out Dwayne Johnson on Instagram. The issue? The release date for Fast & Furious 9 got pushed, and then, ironically, a spin-off movie starring Dwayne and Jason Statham was announced for 2019. Things escalated quickly, and the following month, Tyrese even threatened to leave Fast 9 altogether if Dwayne was still involved. It was a pretty dramatic situation, and definitely showed how seriously everyone took the franchise!

Tyrese recently discussed the long-standing conflict with Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, telling Van Lathan on The Red Pill podcast that he still hasn’t spoken to Johnson directly, though they plan to. He mentioned he did talk to one of Johnson’s producing partners, but not Johnson himself.

Look, I’ve been caught in the middle, relaying messages from a lot of people involved with the franchise. Honestly, I messed up by being the only one to share those feelings publicly – I take full responsibility for that. It was unprofessional and just not the right thing to do, and I regret it.

No more bad blood here.

Taylor Swift and Katy Perry had a long-running public disagreement, rumored to be the inspiration behind Swift’s song “Bad Blood.” The conflict, which supposedly began due to a dispute over a dancer and competition during their concert tours, ended when Perry sent Swift an actual olive branch as a peace offering before Swift’s Reputation Tour began.

Taylor shared in an Instagram video that she found a real olive branch in her dressing room, saying it meant a lot to her.

Taylor captioned the video, “Thank you Katy.”

For years, Kim Cattrall and Sarah Jessica Parker, stars of Sex and the City, successfully dismissed rumors of a disagreement. However, those rumors resurfaced when Kim chose not to participate in a third movie and subsequently made comments about her co-star that sparked controversy.

During a September 2017 appearance on Watch What Happens Live, Andy Cohen asked Sarah Jessica Parker how she felt about Kim Cattrall telling Piers Morgan they had only ever been coworkers, not friends.

She was deeply upset, saying she felt heartbroken about something. They had discussed it the previous week, and she explained that her memory of the experience was very different from how it was being presented. She found the discrepancy really disturbing.

It’s definitely sad, but I believe what really connected us was sharing that unique experience. It started as a professional project, but over the years it became something deeply personal. I’m hoping that the strong bond we built during those years, doing something special that resonated with people, will ultimately be more important than any recent disagreements. It was a real privilege to be a part of.

And though they didn’t film scenes together, Kim did make a small appearance on And Just Like That.

Elton John and Madonna have been publicly disagreeing since 2004. The conflict began when Elton, while accepting an award at the Q Awards that year, criticized Madonna’s live performances. He famously said, “Madonna, best live act? That’s ridiculous!” and questioned her use of lip-syncing, suggesting anyone who lip-syncs during a paid concert shouldn’t be allowed to perform.

The actress, formerly on Grey’s Anatomy, caused a disagreement with the show’s creator back in 2008 when she asked to no longer be considered for an Emmy Award. She explained that she didn’t think the storylines she was given were strong enough to deserve a nomination.

Shonda Rhimes discussed Katherine’s choice in a 2012 interview with Oprah Winfrey on Oprah’s Next Chapter. She admitted it was a little hurtful, but not entirely unexpected. “When someone shows you their true colors, you should pay attention,” Shonda explained. “I’ve really taken that to heart over the years, and it’s been a good lesson for me.”

The fight between Nicki and Cardi at the Harper’s Bazaar Icon party during New York Fashion Week made headlines everywhere. A month later, Cardi publicly explained what caused the argument with Nicki.

I’ve been following this situation with Cardi B and it’s been frustrating to watch. She recently shared in W Magazine that this other person has been consistently coming for her, even after they’d talked things through twice and seemed to reach an agreement. It’s clear this person just wouldn’t let it go, despite Cardi trying to resolve things peacefully.

The conflict truly escalated when Cardi B noticed Nicki Minaj had seemingly liked, then unliked, a tweet criticizing Cardi’s parenting. Nicki has stated she didn’t actually interact with the tweet.

Cardi B explained that she chose to be with her daughter instead of pursuing a very profitable Bruno Mars tour, potentially earning millions. She strongly emphasized her love for her daughter and pride in being a good mother. She responded to criticism about where she encountered another artist, saying opportunities like that don’t come along often, and she wouldn’t expect to run into someone famous casually like that again.

The conflict between Kanye West and Taylor Swift began in 2009 when Kanye interrupted her acceptance speech at the MTV Video Music Awards. While they later reconciled and became friends, their relationship fell apart in 2016 following the release of Kanye’s song “Famous,” which mentioned Taylor by name.

Just before the Grammys in February 2025, Kanye West began following only Taylor Swift on Instagram. He didn’t offer any explanation for the action, and Swift didn’t publicly acknowledge it.

“I don’t know her.”

The rumored rivalry between Mariah Carey and Jennifer Lopez began with a 2003 television interview in Germany. When asked about Jennifer Lopez, Mariah Carey famously responded, “I don’t know her.”
