I’m still completely obsessed with Netflix’s KPop Demon Hunters! It came out almost a year ago, and people are still talking about it – it’s amazing. And the good news doesn’t stop there! Not only is a sequel officially happening (though we’ll have to wait until around 2029, unfortunately), but McDonald’s just dropped a bunch of new KPop Demon Hunters shorts! It’s a full-on phenomenon, and I’m here for it.
Alongside meals like the Saja Boys breakfast and the HUNTR/X meal, a short film called “Battle For The Fans” was released. It shows the Saja Boys and HUNTR/X competing for fan support, mirroring their rivalry in the movie. However, the short concludes with a message suggesting a major debate among fans won’t be resolved anytime soon – probably not until the next film is released.
This Brand-New Animated Short Rekindles A Fan Debate
The final scene of “Battle For The Fans” features a fan holding pictures of Rumi and Jinu, slowly bringing them together while saying, “Don’t fight. Kiss.” This moment has fueled the ongoing, nearly year-long debate among fans about whether Rumi and Jinu should become a couple.
From the beginning of KPop Demon Hunters, it was clear that Jinu and his friends, the Saja Boys, were the villains, even as Rumi started to fall for Jinu. Despite this, the movie left viewers wondering if a romantic relationship between them was still possible after Jinu’s deception was revealed.
The next installment will likely address this, but fans are currently split on what they want to happen with Jinu and Rumi. Some want to see them together and are willing to overlook Jinu’s past mistakes, while others haven’t forgotten his actions in KPop Demon Hunters.
Should Rumi And Jinu End Up Together In The Sequel?
Whether Rumi and Jinu will end up together is up to interpretation, but it mostly depends on how the story unfolds in KPop Demon Hunters 2. The first movie left Jinu’s trustworthiness uncertain—many viewers find him appealing, but he may not be reliable. If the sequel significantly develops his character, a romance between them could become believable.
Despite any character development, some fans will likely always oppose a romantic relationship between Jinu and Rumi. Because Netflix hasn’t revealed its plans, this disagreement is expected to continue for a long time.
