For a long time, games you could only play on one console were a key part of the competition between PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo. While there are fewer of these ‘exclusive’ games now than there used to be, PlayStation has recently had some successes with them. A great example is Stellar Blade, a popular sci-fi RPG released on PS5 in April 2024. It later became available on PC, and now players are hopeful that it might also come to other platforms in the future.
Players are loving Stellar Blade, giving it very positive reviews on Steam and a 9.2 rating on MetaCritic. The game, a major success for developer Shift Up, has already received updates with new content, and a sequel is confirmed to be in development. However, Shift Up recently announced in its Q3 2025 earnings report that they’re working on even more Stellar Blade projects beyond the sequel.
Stellar Blade Projects Solid Future, With Potential Platform Expansion

Shift Up recently shared its plans for the future of Stellar Blade. The game continues to sell well on both PC and PlayStation 5, with sales actually increasing on the PS5. Because of this success, the developer is looking for ways to expand the game’s player base. They’ve already shown they can attract new players by releasing the game on more platforms, as demonstrated by the successful PC version.
Shift Up has indicated they plan to release Stellar Blade on more platforms. Their recent earnings report mentions they’re looking into ways to reach a wider audience, and since the game is currently available on PlayStation 5 and PC, Xbox Series X|S and the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 are the most probable candidates.

They haven’t said which consoles, or when, but it’s starting to look like Stellar Blade might come to other platforms soon. Honestly, with the Switch 2 on the horizon and Nintendo wanting more RPGs, I’d say it’s just as likely to show up there as on Xbox. It really feels like it’s going to happen!
Shift Up plans to promote Stellar Blade with various activities, potentially including collaborations and discounts on both the PS5 and PC versions, especially during the holidays. They’re confident the game will stay popular, so they’ll continue to look for ways to attract new and returning players.
