Please be aware that this article contains spoilers from the One Piece manga! The current storyline in the Elbaf Arc of One Piece is revealing some surprising details about the past. Following the events of the Egghead Incident, the Straw Hat pirates are traveling to Elbaf, the legendary land of the Giants. This isolated kingdom is located in the New World. Luffy and Usopp were particularly eager to visit, remembering their previous encounter with Dorry and Brogy in the Little Garden Arc. Robin also has a personal reason to be excited, as she recently discovered that her friend, Jaguar D. Saul, may still be alive after the destruction of Ohara. Unfortunately, their anticipation is tempered by the fact that Elbaf is currently under attack by the formidable Holy Knights.
Just as Luffy and his crew were about to get involved in the current fight, the story shifted to Harald’s past, intending to show who killed the respected king of Elbaf. We got a quick look at events from 14 years ago at Aurust Castle, and then the story went even further back to follow Harald’s life. But surprisingly, the chapter ended up focusing on the introduction of Rocks D. Xebec instead. It was revealed that Rocks tragically died after being forced to work for Imu, but his story isn’t finished yet, even in death.
One Piece Chapter 1166 Preview Hints At the Aftermath of Xebec’s Death

As a long-time reader of Weekly Shonen Jump, I’ve noticed that each new chapter usually ends with a little sneak peek at what’s coming next. These previews are put in by the manga’s editor, but they only appear in the Japanese magazine. Luckily, a popular One Piece fan account on X, @pewpiece, regularly translates these previews for international fans. We’re currently expecting Chapter 1166 of One Piece to drop around November 23rd, 2025, after a short break.
The latest preview asks, “As the truth about the past is revealed… what will happen to the world?” Like most previews, it’s a bit mysterious, but it seems to indicate the end of the story about God Valley, now that Xebec is dead. He was the one responsible for the terrible Native Hunting Competition the World Government held on the island. His death will set off a huge event with lasting consequences, and the preview suggests we’ll soon see how the God Valley Incident changed the world.
This event was first hinted at in the manga more than six years ago, and the story is now finally explaining the details of this dark past. The fact that the author waited so long to reveal everything highlights how important it is, and it will likely become even more significant as we uncover the full story of what happened.
