Launched in June 2025, Dune: Awakening rapidly became a hit on Steam, quickly gaining a large and dedicated player base. The game allows players to immerse themselves in the sci-fi universe of Arrakis, establishing bases and freely exploring its expansive world. It was among Steam’s top-selling titles that year. Despite its popularity on PC, many science fiction fans have been hoping for a console version. Fortunately, the game’s developer recently shared some good news with players.
Since its release on computers, Dune: Awakening has been improved with several updates. However, it hasn’t yet been released on consoles, which means fewer people can play it. Funcom, the game’s developer, recently addressed fan questions and confirmed that a console version is still planned for release in 2026. This is good news for Dune fans who prefer playing on consoles.
Dune: Awakening Re-Affirms 2026 Console Release Window

For some time, the plan has been to release Dune: Awakening on consoles in 2026. Gamers are understandably cautious about release dates these days, especially when a specific timeframe isn’t given. Currently, we still don’t know exactly when Dune: Awakening will come to PC, but Funcom remains confident about a 2026 console launch.
Funcom recently shared an update on the console version of the game, saying they’re still focused on optimizing performance for a smooth experience. They confirmed that a release is still planned for this year, currently for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. While a Nintendo Switch version isn’t announced, the possibility of a port for the new Switch 2 is open. The developers seem to be in the final stages of development, perfecting controls and making final adjustments before announcing a firm release date.

Although a specific release date hasn’t been announced, the game developer seems sure the game will be available on consoles this year. With the one-year anniversary of Dune: Awakening coming up in June, Funcom might be planning a console launch around that time. The game is currently available on PC through Steam, and a new update was released today, January 20th.
Since it first came out, Dune: Awakening has seen its reviews shift from generally positive to more mixed, mainly because recent updates have caused some problems. Players have expressed frustration with how the game is developing towards its later stages. Despite this, many people are still having fun with the game, and it’s likely to attract even more Dune fans when it’s released on consoles later this year.
You can play Dune Awakening on PC now through Steam for $49.99. The price for playing on consoles hasn’t been announced yet.
