A highly-rated game currently available on PC is coming to PlayStation 5. With a Metacritic score of 88 and a 91% player approval rating based on over 23,000 reviews, it’s already considered one of the best and most popular games of 2026, ranking just behind Pokémon Pokopia and Resident Evil Requiem. Players who’ve enjoyed it on Steam will soon be able to experience it on PS5 as well.
The creators of Mewgenics recently shared a video on X (formerly Twitter) showing the game running on PlayStation 5. While a PS5 version hasn’t been officially announced, this post feels like an unofficial confirmation that it’s in development. They also hinted at a Nintendo Switch 2 version, but there’s no news about an Xbox release. Given how popular Mewgenics is, it was likely only a matter of time before it came to PS5, and this post suggests that release is coming soon.
One of 2026’s Best Games
You might not be familiar with Mewgenics, but you’ve likely played games by its creators, Edmund McMillen and Tyler Glaiel. McMillen is known for The Binding of Isaac, and Glaiel created The End is Nigh. The Binding of Isaac was a particularly popular and influential indie game, and McMillen also made another famous title, Super Meat Boy. Both games were pioneers in the indie game scene.
In this game, you create a powerful cat army by carefully breeding your felines to develop the strongest warriors. You’ll need a top-notch team to tackle challenging turn-based adventures.
The game costs $29.99 on Steam, so we can expect a similar price on the PlayStation Store. Sometimes console versions are slightly more expensive than the PC version, though. While $40 feels a bit high, $35 is plausible. Most likely, however, the price will stay the same across platforms.
