Netflix has been adding a lot of animated shows and movies for kids and families, but recently lost some popular titles. While they added things like the Despicable Me movies and new episodes of shows like Dr. Seuss’s Red Fish, Blue Fish and Pokémon Horizons in January, the streaming service just lost the DreamWorks adaptation of a well-loved book series to a competitor.
All four seasons of the DreamWorks animated series, The Epic Tales of Captain Underpants, including the final season The Epic Tales of Captain Underpants in Space, were removed from Netflix on January 9th. However, the show hasn’t disappeared completely! It’s now available to stream on Peacock, though currently only the first two seasons are on the platform.
Based on the popular Captain Underpants books by Dav Pilkey, this story continues the adventures started in Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie. It follows fourth-graders George and Harold as they accidentally transform their grumpy principal into the superhero, Captain Underpants.
The Epic Tales of Captain Underpants Is a Fun and Wacky Show Perfect for Fans of the Books
Fans of the Captain Underpants books or movies will likely enjoy The Epic Tales of Captain Underpants too. The show captures the same playful, silly humor and wild, creative energy as the original stories. It even looks like a comic book come to life, with fun visual styles and segments like “Flip-O-Rama.” It’s full of laughs and follows George and Harold on incredibly silly adventures, making it a celebration of imagination that’s fun for everyone.
The Netflix series The Epic Tales of Captain Underpants was popular with viewers, earning an average audience score of 76% on Rotten Tomatoes throughout its four seasons. The first season was particularly well-received, achieving a perfect 100% score from critics. In a review, ComicBook described the show as a genuinely clever and enjoyable experience, full of playful energy and a wonderful sense of childlike fun.
What’s New on Peacock?
Peacock has added the first two seasons of The Epic Tales of Captain Underpants to its collection of DreamWorks content, continuing a recent trend of new additions to the streaming platform. Families can now enjoy titles like Abominable, All Dogs Go to Heaven, the How to Train Your Dragon movies, and DreamWorks films Shark Tale and Shrek Forever After. For older viewers, Peacock also added The Chronicles of Riddick, Den Of Thieves, The Green Mile, Into The Storm, and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom in January.
