2026 looks like a huge year for anime on Netflix, with the platform expanding its offerings to include popular series like Beastars, Pokemon Horizons, and Cosmic Princess Kaguya, among others. While there’s plenty of action available, one anime consistently receives the highest ratings. Although it might not reach the popularity of KPop Demon Hunters, this series – featuring a powerful ogre’s son – is returning with a new chapter, and we now know when it will be released. This time, instead of battling a caveman or his own father, the hero will face a samurai.
Get ready for more Baki! Baki-Dou: The Invincible Samurai, the newest installment in the Baki Hanma saga, arrives on Netflix February 26th. After Baki defeats his father and claims the title of world’s strongest creature, a surprising challenger emerges: the legendary samurai Miyamoto Musashi, resurrected to find worthy opponents. The entire 13-episode anime season will be available all at once on the 26th, but with so much intense action, you might want to pace yourself! Check out the new poster for Baki’s return below.

Baki’s Past, Present, And Future

In the last installment of Baki The Grappler, Baki finally accomplished his lifelong dream: defeating Yujiro Hanma. Having spent the series striving to become strong enough to challenge his father, the story now introduces a new opponent: a resurrected samurai named Musashi. Musashi was a legendary, undefeated swordsman in Japanese history, but this version of the character will be a reimagining of the real historical figure. It will be fascinating to see what motivates Baki now that he’s reached the pinnacle of strength and what challenges this new fight presents.
The battle between Baki and Miyamoto wasn’t the last one in the manga series. After that, Baki faced a powerful sumo wrestler, who was resurrected in a way similar to the swordsman. Although Netflix hasn’t confirmed this fight yet, the popularity of Baki The Grappler suggests it might be adapted for television in the future.
The Baki the Grappler manga is currently centered around Baki’s brother, Jack Hanma. Though Jack has lost to Baki before and suffered a significant defeat by Pickle, he’s determined to get stronger and take revenge. Even after running for decades, the series’ creator, Keisuke Itagaki, shows no signs of stopping, continuing the story he began in the 1980s.
