One of the Best Animated Franchises of All-Time Reveals It Still Has New Ideas – Watch the Toy Story 5 Final Trailer

Even though Toy Story 3 seemed like a definitive conclusion back in 2010, the incredibly popular animated franchise has continued to thrive. The huge success of that film – earning over a billion dollars worldwide and an Academy Award nomination – meant the story wasn’t truly finished. After a nine-year wait, Toy Story 4 arrived, and now, not long after, the beloved series is returning this summer with a fifth installment.

Disney and Pixar have released the final trailer for Toy Story 5, which arrives in theaters on June 19th. The trailer reveals the central conflict of the new movie: Bonnie may be losing interest in her toys thanks to Lilypad, a frog-shaped tablet. The film will bring back beloved characters like Woody, Buzz, Jessie, and Bo-Peep, but Lilypad’s arrival threatens to change everything. You can watch the trailer below.

Toy Story 5 Proves the Franchise Still Has Juice

The final trailer for Toy Story 5 is short and sweet, but it quickly shows the movie honors its original spirit while also offering plenty of new laughs for longtime fans. Details like Woody’s new bald spot and the introduction of the character Lilypad demonstrate the filmmakers still have fresh and relevant ideas. The trailer cleverly plays with nostalgia too, echoing iconic scenes from the first Toy Story – for example, a moment with Jessie and Lilypad mirrors Woody’s confrontation with Buzz.

The upcoming Toy Story 5 will feature many of the original voice actors from the beloved films, including Tom Hanks as Woody, Tim Allen as Buzz Lightyear, Joan Cusack as Jessie, John Ratzenberger as Hamm, and Wallace Shawn as Rex. However, due to the passage of time, some roles have been recast. Jeff Bergman will now voice Mr. Potato Head, taking over from the late Don Rickles, and Anna Vocino will voice Mrs. Potato Head after the passing of Estelle Harris.

The upcoming film, Toy Story 5, will introduce several new characters. Greta Lee will voice Lillypad, while Conan O’Brien will play Smarty Pants and Craig Robinson will be Atlas, a friendly, talking GPS hippo. In a surprising turn, the movie will alter a long-established part of the series’ history and finally give Bullseye, Woody and Jessie’s horse, a voice – provided by Alan Cumming. Plus, Bad Bunny will make a voice cameo as Pizza with Sunglasses.

The highly anticipated Toy Story 5, directed by Academy Award winner Andrew Stanton, who is returning to the franchise, will be released in theaters on June 19, 2026.
