One of the Best Horror Movies of 2024 Is Now on Peacock

Many horror fans are calling 2024 one of the best years for the genre this century. Hit films like The Substance, I Saw the TV Glow, and Nosferatu were both popular with audiences and praised by critics. Now, with another strong year for horror expected in 2026, one of 2024’s best movies is now available to stream exclusively on Peacock.

James Watkins’s remake of the film Speak No Evil is currently available to stream on Peacock, as of February 6th. This psychological horror thriller follows an American family whose relaxing weekend trip to the British countryside turns into a terrifying ordeal. While it briefly streamed on Peacock in December 2024 before moving to Prime Video, its availability on Peacock is uncertain, so it’s best to watch it now while you can.

Speak No Evil Is an Uncomfortable, Slow-Burn Psychological Thriller

Speak No Evil is a deeply unsettling film that builds tension and anxiety rather than relying on cheap scares. James McAvoy stars in this story where simple politeness becomes terrifying. What starts as a pleasant weekend trip for a family gradually descends into dread as their hosts act increasingly strangely. The frustration for the audience – and the source of the film’s power – comes from the guests’ constant inability to assert themselves or say ‘no,’ even when their instincts tell them something is terribly wrong, all in the name of avoiding offense.

The 2024 remake is widely considered a good, and often better, version of the original film. Both movies have strong critic scores on Rotten Tomatoes (83%), but the remake significantly improved on the original’s audience score, achieving 83% compared to 59%. This new version of Speak No Evil takes a more action-oriented and suspenseful approach, and its altered ending was generally well-received. Critics and viewers particularly praised the film’s tense atmosphere and James McAvoy’s performance as the captivating and unsettling character, Paddy, which is a major reason to watch.
