Webtoon, launched in 2004 by Naver, is a popular digital comic platform originally from South Korea, now with a large American audience. While it features comics from creators around the world – including Chinese manhua and Japanese manga – it’s best known for Korean manhwa. These Korean comics are becoming increasingly popular, and fans are eagerly awaiting their adaptations into anime. A prime example is Solo Leveling, which was hugely successful even before the anime came out. Because the original novels and comics already had a large international following, the anime adaptation was a massive hit.
The popularity of Korean webcomics isn’t limited to Solo Leveling; series like Tower of God and True Beauty have also gained a large international following. According to Variety, Webtoon Entertainment and Warner Bros. Animation are working together to create animated adaptations of ten popular webcomics. In a recent interview, Yongsoo Kim, head of global strategy at Webtoon Entertainment, and Sam Register, president of Warner Bros. Animation and Cartoon Network Studio, announced that four titles have been chosen so far, including The Stellar Swordsmaster. While confirmed, The Stellar Swordsmaster is still in early development, and more information will be released later.
What Is the Plot of The Stellar Swordsmaster?

Vlad grew up poor, but always dreamed of being a knight. Everything changed when he was hit by a bolt of black lightning. Suddenly, he could hear voices coming from swords, making him a local curiosity – and a source of fear. People whispered he must have committed a terrible sin in a past life to attract such a strange event. His friend, Zemina, is especially worried, fearing the arrival of a new, deeply religious bishop will lead to Vlad being accused of witchcraft and burned at the stake.
Vlad desperately wants to earn five gold coins so he can buy a magnificent sword and finally achieve his dream. But growing up in the slums makes it nearly impossible to escape poverty. The town of Schoarra, known as the Lighthouse of the North and supported by the wealthy Vayezid family, is actually exploiting the slums, which are controlled by five ruthless gang leaders.
With families preparing to fight each other, Vlad finds himself caught in the middle and begins a quest to achieve his goals, armed with a sword. The first season ended in October and, while a second season was originally planned for November, it’s now expected in December 2025, though a specific date hasn’t been announced.
