Horror movies are doing incredibly well in theaters, and 2024 saw one unrated slasher film become a massive hit, breaking box office records in October. With other recent successes like The Conjuring: Last Rites, Sinners, and 28 Years Later proving popular, fans can now watch this record-breaking film for free on Tubi.
Let’s talk about Terrifier 3, the latest thrilling and gory installment in Damien Leone’s slasher series. Just over a year after its theatrical release, the movie became available to stream on Tubi on November 1st, while fans eagerly await news about Terrifier 4. Set during Christmas, the film once again features David Howard Thornton as Art the Clown, who returns to haunt Sienna and her brother five years after the last movie. This time, he’s joined by a possessed Victoria Heyes.
Recent hits like the movie prove that even low-budget horror films can be incredibly successful at the box office, sometimes even more profitable than big-budget movies. This particular film was made for only $2 million but earned over $90 million worldwide – about 45 times its production cost. It’s now the highest-grossing unrated film ever and the most successful release from Cineverse so far.
Terrifier 3 Is a Controversial Success
As a huge horror fan, I think the incredible success of Terrifier 3 really comes down to Damien Leone knowing his audience. He doesn’t try to appeal to everyone; he focuses on those of us who love slasher films and delivers exactly what we want. It’s a movie that doesn’t hold back – it’s got the extreme gore we expect, a fantastic final girl, and Art the Clown, who’s become a truly iconic horror villain, right up there with Michael Myers, Jason, and Ghostface. He just gets what makes this genre special.
The film hasn’t been without its share of debate, but even the controversy has helped it gain popularity. Director Damien Leone continues to raise the bar with each new installment in the Terrifier series, and Terrifier 3 is the most shocking one yet. Reports surfaced globally of viewers fainting or getting sick during screenings, especially during the opening scenes, due to the incredibly graphic violence. Ironically, these reactions actually boosted the film’s buzz, turning it into a test of endurance and making seeing it to the end a kind of achievement.
Other Horror Movies Now on Tubi
Tubi has added a bunch of new horror movies, including the recently released Terrifier 3, along with the first two Terrifier films.
