As a huge Scrubs fan, I was thrilled to see the revival do so well! It’s amazing news that Disney and ABC are already gearing up for Season 2, planned for Fall 2026. The buzz is already building, and the showrunners seem to be aware of it – they’ve hinted that some beloved characters who didn’t appear in the first season will finally get their moment to shine next time around. I can’t wait!
We’re also hearing that characters who had small parts in the first season of Scrubs are becoming more important in the second season. While this is mostly a positive development, one particular change will unfortunately disrupt the show’s character dynamics.
Scrubs Season 2 Already Has Too Many Antagonists
The first season of the Scrubs revival saw J.D. Dorian (Zach Braff) become the new Chief of Medicine at Sacred Heart Hospital. It was also revealed that the previous chief, Dr. Perry Cox (John C. McGinley), is battling a severe autoimmune illness. J.D. had to take on the responsibilities of leadership, but things got complicated when his longtime rival, The Janitor (Neil Flynn), returned and started causing trouble.
Those who enjoyed the original Scrubs will be happy to hear that Dr. Cox and The Janitor are returning for Season 2 of the revival. The Janitor has already hinted at causing trouble, and while Dr. Cox became more of a guide for J.D. in the first season, the finale revealed he’ll be a difficult patient when dealing with his own health issues. Knowing Dr. Cox, he’ll likely have plenty of opinions on how J.D. is managing things, and he won’t hesitate to voice them.
Now that J.D. is dealing with his established patients, what about the new character who seems set to cause him trouble?
Scrubs New Bad Doctor May Not Be As Big In Season 2

The first season of the Scrubs revival featured Dr. Kevin Park (played by Joel Kim Booster) as a doctor at Sacred Heart Hospital. He quickly became an antagonist when Dr. Cox unexpectedly chose J.D. to be Chief of Medicine instead of him. Throughout the season, Dr. Park tried to undermine J.D. and get him fired, but his plan backfired in the finale. A nurse confronted him about his bullying behavior, and his response hinted that he might be more complex than he appears, but lacks self-awareness.
As a huge Scrubs fan, I’ve been thinking about Booster’s potential, and it feels like there’s a lot the writers could do with the character. But it’s tricky, because you’ve also got Dr. Cox and The Janitor already established. There was already a big debate about whether Dr. Park was a good fit replacing Cox, so I’m wondering if the showrunner might scale back Booster’s role in Season 2, especially with those beloved veterans around to pick up the slack. However, it doesn’t have to be about cutting characters. I’d actually love to see something unexpected – imagine Dr. Cox totally losing it with how J.D.’s running things and forming a crazy alliance with Dr. Park and The Janitor! That would be a fantastic twist on J.D.’s dynamic with Elliot and Turk, and honestly, a major moment for Scrubs fans to really get excited about.
