One Piece Chapter 1183 Gives Brook New Origin 19 Years Later

In One Piece Chapter 1183, the mystery surrounding Brook and Gunko deepens as it’s revealed Gunko bears a striking resemblance to a princess Brook knew long ago. He’s shocked, as she should be around 70 years old, leading him to suspect she might be under someone’s control. While the Straw Hats consider how to deal with the current Holy Knight, Brook explains that both he and Gunko are originally from a lost kingdom called Esperia, a land known for its musicians and artisans.

We then see a flashback to Brook’s past on Esperia, 70 years ago in the West Blue. He was a fast-drawing swordsman in his twenties, leading a group of fighters who reported directly to the king and queen. The character currently known as Gunko is revealed to be a young child named Shuri, and she was very close to Brook at that time. This glimpse of the kingdom shows a peaceful period, but it seems that peace won’t last much longer.
