Please be aware that this article reveals major plot points from the One Piece manga! The current Elbaph Arc in the One Piece manga recently showed the history of Harald, just before Luffy’s crew got involved in the battle against the Holy Knights. This backstory spanned several months and detailed Harald’s life, from his wild youth as a pirate to his eventual reign as a respected king of Elbaph. Harald always believed that joining the World Government would help the Giants advance their civilization. For generations, Giants were known as fearsome warriors, and Harald wanted to change that. Decades ago, Harald secretly went to Mariejois during a Reverie meeting and unexpectedly ran into Rocks D. Xebec, who was escaping after killing an Admiral.
The recent flashback revealed the character’s full backstory, including his relationship with Marshall D. Teach. Volume 114 of the manga will be released in Japan on March 4th, 2026, and the official cover art has been shared on the One Piece X account. While the release date is currently only for Japan, the English translation will likely be available a few months later. The cover maintains the series’ vibrant style and showcases many characters, this time focusing on the Rocks Pirates. Xebec is prominently displayed in the center, fully colored and commanding attention.
Rocks D. Xebec Is One of The Most Crucial Characters in One Piece

Rocks D. Xebec officially appears in the Elbaf Arc, where we learn he’s Blackbeard’s father and responsible for killing a Marine Admiral. Though hinted at after the Wano Country arc concluded, it took years for him to actually appear. Xebec traveled to Elbaf looking for Harald, but encountered his son first. Recent events in Chapter 1155 have confirmed he killed an Admiral during the Reverie, resulting in a large bounty being placed on his head.
Immediately after defeating the Admiral, Xebec engaged in a fierce sword fight with Harald, the impact of which sent everyone flying for five kilometers. Since becoming a wanted criminal, Xebec traveled the seas, recruiting skilled fighters to build his pirate crew. The flashback also showed that Xebec belongs to the Davy Clan, a family descended from the legendary pirate Davy Jones, a figure from ancient times now considered a myth or god. The World Government has consistently tried to wipe out the Clan, but they survived by establishing themselves within the criminal underworld.
It’s a mystery how Xebec discovered Imu and managed to enter the Flower Room to confront the world’s hidden leader. However, Xebec had a history with the World Government even before becoming a pirate. The location of the God Valley competition wasn’t random; it was deliberately chosen to draw out the Rocks pirates, who would react aggressively to the threat of their homeland being destroyed.
