One Piece’s Elbaph Arc Finally Gives Usopp His Chance to Shine

Elbaph is the legendary home of the Giants, known for their courageous warriors who prioritize honor and pride above all else. This spirit is what initially earned Luffy and Usopp’s respect for Dorry and Brogy. The two have dreamed of visiting Elbaph ever since, and they’ve finally made the journey across the New World to reach the land of the warriors.

Usopp was inspired by his encounter with Dorry and Brogy in Little Garden to become a stronger and more respectable person. Though it’s been over twenty years since then – and the storyline began in 2024 – Usopp hasn’t had many opportunities to stand out. But in the latest chapter of One Piece, chapter 1177, he finally gets his chance to shine.

Usopp Confronts Imu in One Piece Chapter 1177

Usopp rushes to help Brook after a brutal attack by Imu. Brook, who once knew a girl named Gunko, hoped she might hold clues about her father. However, he doesn’t realize Imu is controlling Gunko, completely dominating her thoughts and body. Badly wounded, Brook sees Usopp trying to save him, and even though Usopp is outmatched, he won’t abandon a friend in need. Despite being easily defeated by Imu, Usopp bravely stands his ground and challenges the villain for the terrible things they’ve done to the people of Elbaph.

Usopp deeply respects strong fighters, which is why he was so disgusted by the Holy Knights’ underhanded tactic of taking children hostage instead of directly confronting the Giants. While Usopp’s powerful attack against Imu didn’t do any lasting damage due to Imu’s ability to heal quickly, it successfully signaled to Luffy and Loki that it was time to fight. Now, Luffy is finally battling Imu, and the outcome of this fight will decide the future of Elbaph.
