One actor from “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” is excited for the upcoming revival, particularly since their character was handled differently in the initial show. Chloé Zhao, director of the Academy Award-winning film “Nomadland,” and Sarah Michelle Gellar, reprising her role as Buffy, are spearheading this new project. Also joining them are screenwriters Nora and Lilla Zuckerman, and Gail Berman, who was part of the original series team and will now serve as an executive producer. Although Joss Whedon, creator of the original series, is not participating in the revival, at least one cast member from the past hopes to be a part of it.
In a chat with IGN, Charisma Carpenter recently spoke about her stint as Cordelia on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and her aspirations for the upcoming reboot. Although it’s yet to be determined which characters will appear alongside Sarah Michelle Gellar’s Buffy Summers in the reboot, Carpenter is hoping that Cordelia will gracefully return to the screen, given her character’s destiny on the spinoff show, Angel.
Charisma Carpenter expressed her enthusiasm about the reboot, stating that it will undoubtedly be amazing due to the people involved. She’s overjoyed to see it come to life for fans and is hopeful she’ll be part of it, with Cordelia being included in this new version.
Sarah Michelle Gale, famously known for portraying Cordelia in ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’, was a key member of the Scooby Gang for three seasons. Later, her character was transferred to the lead role in the spinoff series, ‘Angel’. She acted alongside David Boreanaz until her character met an untimely end due to a contentious plotline. However, Sarah Michelle has previously expressed eagerness to reprise her role as Cordelia, should there be a reboot. She believes that her character’s return would be fitting given the injustice of her death on ‘Angel’.
Although Gellar hinted that the reboot might resurrect deceased characters, it’s uncertain if Cordelia is included in this, given that she perished on “Angel” and not “Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
In my heartfelt aspirations, shared during a talk at the Filming Italy Sardegna Festival, I expressed my longing to reunite with all those who’ve moved on. However, I also acknowledged that fresh narratives must find their place in this ever-evolving world of storytelling.
This implies that, although some characters could potentially return in the remake, the creative team is being careful to selectively resurrect them in a way that aligns with the narrative’s needs.
In the forthcoming revival of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”, Ryan Kiera Armstrong steps into the role as the new Slayer. This fresh face will team up with the original Buffy. Although specifics about the revival are scarce, it’s predicted to continue post-events from the final episode of the initial series. The original program concluded with Buffy eliminating the concept of a single Slayer by empowering potential slayers. So far, only Sarah Michelle Gellar’s character Buffy Summers has been confirmed as returning.
You can watch all seven seasons of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and its spinoff series “Angel” right now on Hulu. However, there’s no word yet on when the reboot might start filming or when it will air on Hulu.
