As a huge fan of The Blair Witch Project, I remember the buzz around its quick follow-up, Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2. It really didn’t land with audiences or at the box office, and it took almost 20 years for another sequel, simply titled Blair Witch, to appear. But here’s the thing: both of those sequels just hit HBO Max, and honestly, I’m starting to think we might have been too harsh on Book of Shadows all along.

The new shooting game, Marathon, has had a solid start, reaching around 88,000 players at its peak on Steam. While that’s a good number for many games, it’s causing some concern because Marathon is a huge, ongoing live service game. Developed by Bungie and backed by Sony, reports suggest it cost between $200 and $250 million to create. Given that massive investment, some are questioning whether Marathon can be successful in the long run.

Recently, players on the Xbox Game Pass subreddit have been rediscovering how highly regarded BioWare once was, especially the original Mass Effect trilogy. Though the studio isn’t as strong now as it used to be, it was once considered one of the very best in the gaming industry. During its prime, BioWare released the critically acclaimed Mass Effect trilogy. The first game, released in 2007, received a score of 91 on Metacritic. Mass Effect 2 followed in 2010, earning an impressive 96. Finally, Mass Effect 3 concluded the story in 2012 with a score of 93.

I first discovered The Glass Cannon podcast in 2015 while learning to play the Pathfinder roleplaying game. It started as a podcast covering a Pathfinder campaign, and I’ve been impressed to see it grow into the Glass Cannon Network, which now features actual play shows for many different tabletop RPGs.
