Douglas even served as the inspiration for the character Jack Crawford in Thomas Harris’s Hannibal Lecter novels. Mindhunter also inspired the Netflix series of the same name, which explored similar themes but with a unique approach to crime storytelling, particularly how investigators use psychology. Though it premiered after Criminal Minds had already finished its main run, the Netflix series offered a fresh perspective on the genre.

The Tokyo Extreme Racer series started as a Sega exclusive, but in 2001, Genki shifted it to PlayStation 2 with Tokyo Xtreme Racer: Zero. Over the next four years, they released several more games – Tokyo Xtreme Racer: Drift, Tokyo Xtreme Racer 3, and Tokyo Xtreme Racer: Drift 2 – all for PlayStation. After that, the series went silent on PlayStation. In 2006, Import Tuner Challenge was released exclusively for Xbox 360, but after that, the series largely disappeared except for a few mobile games. Thankfully, I’ve found an MMO that actually solves this problem, and addresses my other concerns with the genre.
