Several games in early access, including the popular title Palworld, will effectively get a major boost in 2026 as they prepare to launch their full 1.0 versions. Pocketpair, the studio behind the sandbox survival game, announced that they’re making significant progress on the 1.0 update, which they expect to be their largest release yet, according to John Buckley, their head of communications and publishing.
The presentation also revealed concept art for several new Pals, including an adorable Electric-type lion cub and a unique fish that can detach its head and use its spiny tail to attack. But the most impressive reveal was a massive whale, shown at the end, that makes the player character look incredibly small in comparison.
The game is progressing towards the World Tree, which is a major component of the 1.0 update and essentially the game’s ending. Players will explore inside, and while its secrets are currently unknown, Pocketpair has confirmed they plan to continue supporting and updating Palworld even after this part of the story concludes. As Buckley stated last year, the World Tree marks the end of this journey, not the end of Palworld itself.
Beyond the World Tree and the addition of new Pals, it’s still unclear what else will be included in the full version 1.0 update, which is coming out later this year. Keep an eye out for more reveals and previews! Currently, Palworld is playable on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC. As of February 2025, over 32 million people had already joined the game, and that number has likely grown since then, though the developers haven’t officially confirmed it.
