We already know a lot about the main character of Phantom Blade Zero, Soul. He’s on a quest to find a cure for a life-threatening heart condition. After being kicked out of The Order, he’s now free to make his own choices and reconnect with who he once was. According to the game’s director, Soulframe Liang, this journey could lead to Soul becoming a hero who rises from humble beginnings.
The latest developer update explores the concept of ‘Wuxia’ and how it will be represented in the game, including the importance of honor and how it affects interactions. They explained that players will meet many different people, each with their own lives and stories, and the player will only be a small part of them. Helping these characters can have unexpected consequences, much like the ‘butterfly effect’.
Even a small act of kindness can have a surprising impact, potentially changing the course of your personal journey, including your goals and relationships.
Ultimately, living with integrity and making good choices, as Soul does, can have a significant, far-reaching effect. As Liang explains, your character is built by your actions. Even events that seem small or unconnected could change the assassin’s destiny.
It’s still unclear how everything will come together, and whether Soul will ultimately be saved. The main story will take around 20 to 30 hours to complete, but with all the optional side content, you could easily spend 50 hours exploring. Regardless, you’re in for a substantial and immersive experience.
The action game Phantom Blade Zero will be released on September 9th for both PlayStation 5 and PC. Developers at S-Game are working hard to finalize the game, dedicating all their resources to make it the best it can be. They also confirmed that every element of the game, including the environments, is created entirely by human artists—no AI was used in development.
