A significant gap of 16 years has passed since the last Pink Panther movie graced our cinema screens, but a prominent actor in Hollywood has recently announced his role as the lead in an upcoming reboot of this classic franchise.
I, Eddie Murphy, am thrilled to announce that I’ll be stepping into the shoes of the iconic Inspector Clouseau for the upcoming film! Known for my roles in Shrek, Beverly Hills Cop, The Nutty Professor, Coming to America, and many more, I can’t wait to bring this beloved character to life once again.
He recently shared in an interview that he has begun working on Shrek 5 and will portray the character of Inspector Clouseau in the upcoming Pink Panther movie.
Perhaps, though there’s a chance he could be Haitian too. Let me clarify, he is definitely African-American. Without a doubt.

In the Pink Panther franchise, the main character is the bumbling Inspector Jacques Clouseau. In his initial adventure, he attempts to prevent a notorious artifact-stealer called The Phantom from making off with the precious Pink Panther diamond.
In six movies, Clouseau was memorably portrayed by Sellers, but in one instance, images of the character were displayed with another actor. Additionally, Alan Arkin, Roger Moore, and more recently, Steve Martin have taken on the role in different productions, with Martin starring in two modern adaptations.
As a die-hard movie buff, I can’t help but reminisce about the impactful film series that birthed an entire universe of spin-off animated shows, all revolving around the iconic Pink Panther character. This charming figure made his grand entrance during the opening credits of the inaugural movie.
2023 saw rumors about Murphy’s role in a fresh installment of The Pink Panther series, with Jeff Fowler announced as the director and Chris Bremner penning the script at that time.
In the latest development, Murphy has recently appeared in the much-anticipated sequel to Beverly Hills Cop, titled “Axel F,” which hit screens in 2024. His upcoming movie, “The Pickup,” will debut on Amazon’s Prime Video service next month.
