Planet Zoo 2 Announced for October 13th Release, Features Brand-New Wildlife Reserves

Frontier Developments is going back to the popular Planet Zoo after their amusement park game, Planet Coaster 2, didn’t quite gain the traction they expected. Planet Zoo 2 will be released on October 13th for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC. The standard version will cost $49.99, while the deluxe edition will be priced at $64.99. You can watch the first trailer, which includes both in-game footage and clips from the PC beta, below.

In Planet Zoo 2, you get to build and manage your own zoo, filled with a huge range of animals – everything from zebras and chimpanzees to alligators and tigers, plus new additions like toucans and secretary birds. The animals look incredibly realistic thanks to improved graphics, featuring detailed fur, feathers, scales, and lifelike movements and sounds. It’s a significant upgrade in visual quality.

Taking care of your animals and meeting their needs is essential in Planet Zoo 2, but the new Wildlife Reserves add a whole new layer. These begin as conservation efforts and grow into expansive habitats around the globe where you can release animals back into the wild. It’s a long-term commitment, especially with the game’s extended year length, so you’ll also have to manage changing seasons and weather.

Planet Zoo 2 will feature a lot of new content, including five returning and four brand new animal themes. Players can enjoy familiar modes like Career, Sandbox, and Franchise, plus a new Planet Hub that lets you manage all your zoos from one central place. Look out for more information and gameplay reveals in the coming months!
