The first gameplay trailer has been released for Loulan: The Cursed Sand, an action RPG from ChillyRoom set in ancient China along the Silk Road. The game was originally announced in July 2024 as part of the PlayStation China Hero Project, and this is the first significant update since then.
Following the collapse of the Loulan kingdom in Western China, this game puts you in the role of an exiled guard, nicknamed “The Cursed Sand,” on a quest to find the princess. It features fast-paced, overhead combat where you can quickly switch between a skeletal and sand form, using each to perform unique attacks and combos against undead enemies and monsters – including the ability to become a massive sand tornado!
The game even makes simple actions, like hiding underground to avoid attacks, look polished. You’ll face huge bosses too, such as a colossal sand serpent. And with varied environments—from caves to crumbling cities—it promises to be a really interesting adventure.
Currently, there’s no confirmed release date for Loulan: The Cursed Sand, but it’s planned for both PlayStation 5 and PC. You can add it to your wishlist now.
