PlayStation Plus will offer its first free game on the day of its release this August – specifically, on August 4th. While Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass frequently features new games immediately upon launch, PlayStation Plus usually only offers a handful each year. Because these day-one releases are rare for PlayStation Plus subscribers, they tend to generate more excitement than similar releases on Xbox.
The creators of the popular game Untitled Goose Game, House House and Panic, have announced their new co-op adventure, Big Walk, will launch on August 4th for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and PC. It will also be available as a free monthly game for all PlayStation Plus members – those with Essential, Extra, or Premium subscriptions. Throughout August, players can download and play Big Walk at no cost, and keep it as long as their PlayStation Plus subscription remains active.
About the Free PlayStation Plus Game
House House, the creators of the popular game Untitled Goose Game, are releasing a new game called Big Walk. Unlike their previous title, Big Walk hasn’t gained much attention so far. That’s likely why it’s being offered as part of the PlayStation Plus subscription service – this provides them with immediate funding and introduces the game to a wider player base.
The game is a cooperative adventure where players work together and communicate to explore a vast, open world filled with challenges, puzzles, and things to discover. While the ultimate goal isn’t entirely clear, simply exploring and enjoying time with others might be the point.
The price of the new game is still unknown, but considering the studio’s last game cost around $20, we can expect it to be at least that much—possibly $25 or $30. Fortunately, PlayStation Plus members won’t have to pay full price.
PlayStation Plus members won’t have to wait long for their next free game after an eight-month gap. Runescape Dragonwilds will be the second game offered to subscribers on the day it launches, September 15th.
