Pokémon Go Choose Your Path rewards: Which one should you pick?

Pokémon Go is testing a new type of quest with branching storylines, letting you make choices that affect the outcome. We’ve put together a guide to all the rewards you can earn and recommend the best path to take.

This is a great way to feel better after Pokémon Go Fest, which we think is the ideal vacation for gamers, particularly if it’s held close to home.

Choosing the wrong Quest can be frustrating, but we can help! Our guide clearly explains what each Quest involves, so you’ll know exactly what to expect before you start.

Now that’s covered, let’s dive into the details of Pokémon Go’s Choose Your Path rewards and which ones are best for you!

Pokémon Go Choose Your Path quests and rewards

In Pokémon Go, you can pick from three different Timed Research tasks called Explore, Catch, and Battle. Each one lets you choose your own path!

You’ll need to finish a few steps before making your selection, but once you’ve chosen, it’s permanent, so think carefully!

It’s easy to start! Simply claim a 500 Stardust reward, which will also give you five Poké Balls. Then, you’ll be able to choose whether to Explore, Catch, or Battle.

The quest ends 8pm Tuesday 12 May, so you’ve got a good amount of time to complete it.

Choose Your Path: Explore

If you select Explore, you will get a x5 XP for spinning PokéStops bonus, and the following:

  • Explore 5km – 10 Great Balls
  • Spin 50 PokéStops – 10 Ultra Balls

Once completed, you will receive three Pinap Berries and five Rare Candies.

Choose Your Path: Catch

Choosing the Catch option will give you 1.5 times the usual XP when you make Nice, Great, or Excellent Throws when catching Pokémon. You’ll also receive these additional benefits:

  • Make 15 Excellent Throws – 10 Great Balls
  • Make 50 Curveball Throws – 10 Ultra Balls

You will also get three Pinap berries and five Rare Candies.

Choose Your Path: Battle

If you opt for Battle, you will get a 5000 XP bonus for completing raids, as well as:

  • Win 5 Raid – 10 Great Balls
  • Use 25 supereffective Charged Attacks – Ultra Balls

Like the other challenges, you will also get three Pinap Berries and five Rare Candies.

Which Choose Your Path quest should you pick?

Okay, so if I’m trying to level up fast, I’ve found that just catching Pokémon or exploring the world gives you way more XP than raiding or battling. Plus, it’s a lot less stressful – those raids and battles can be tough!

Okay, if I had to pick just one thing to focus on in Pokémon Go, it’d definitely be catching Pokémon! Seriously, that’s what you spend most of your time doing anyway. Plus, you get a 1.5x XP boost for making Nice, Great, and Excellent Throws, which is awesome. It means you don’t need to constantly hunt for PokéStops or Raids to level up – just focus on catching ’em all and throwing well!
