Good news! As of today, June 18th, 2026 at noon, it appears Sony has fixed the problem with the ‘Recently Played‘ and ‘Most Played’ lists on PS5 profiles – they’re back to working normally.
I was getting really worried because some features on PlayStation Network were down for a bit! Apparently, Sony was fixing a weird bug where games would show up on people’s profiles even if they hadn’t actually purchased or played them. Glad they’re working on it!
Now that these profile features are working again, it looks like the underlying issue has been fixed. We at Push Square aren’t seeing any strange games appear on profiles, and we’re hoping that’s true for everyone else too.
I’ll check to see if anyone is still experiencing problems, but hopefully everything is working correctly now.
Update #2 [Wed 17th Jun 2026, 3pm]:
We haven’t received any official explanation for this strange situation, but everyone has confirmed their accounts show no unauthorized game purchases.
So, it appears Sony knows about the problem and has temporarily disabled some features to stop unusual games from showing up on PS5 user profiles.
At this point it’s fairly clear this is some kind of issue on Sony’s side.
A Twitter thread by @PorkPoncho offers a really clear explanation of what’s going on.
PlayStation internally tracks games in a couple of different ways. One method is used to keep track of what you’ve been playing, and that’s what populates the ‘Recently Played’ and ‘Most Played’ lists on your profile.
It looks like there’s a flaw that lets people add false information, causing games you haven’t shown interest in to show up in your feed.
To be honest, I’m having trouble fully understanding everything right now. I hope things get back to normal soon, and I’ll update the article as soon as they do.
Update #1 [Tue 16th Jun 2026, 10pm]:
Okay, so it looks like Sony’s having a bit of a network glitch! I noticed, and a lot of other PS5 owners did too, that games were showing up in our account libraries that we hadn’t actually purchased. It’s like a mistake happened and they’re trying to fix it now – hopefully it’s just a quick thing!
The ‘Recently Played’ section on my homepage – and on many other people’s – is currently empty. This likely happened while PlayStation was working to resolve an issue.
There’s currently no proof that anyone actually hacked into the system, but because Sony has had security issues in the past, we’re watching this problem closely.
So, you might remember a weird thing happened recently – some PS5 accounts got hacked. It turns out someone was tricking PlayStation support staff into giving them access to those accounts. Pretty sneaky, right?
Sony seems to be improving its security, but some players are noticing strange activity with their PlayStation Network accounts – and this time, it’s even more unusual than previous issues.
Several Reddit users are reporting that games are appearing on their profiles even though they’ve never bought, downloaded, or played them.
The example in the initial post displays “Sex Store Simulator” as the user’s last played game.
Reddit user xviixvo points out that this claim is false – the game isn’t actually available for purchase or download on the PlayStation Store. This means whoever made the claim couldn’t have possibly played it.
The user also posted a screenshot of a game named Hentai Princess in the comments. It appears this game isn’t available on the PlayStation Store.
I’m seeing a bunch of new games appearing too! Apparently, there’s ‘Avatar Island’, a pretty wild ‘Sex Shop Simulator’, ‘Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare’, and even a ‘Germany Quiz’ – talk about a diverse lineup!
I haven’t noticed anything like that happening with my own account, but I’m hearing from enough other people that it seems real.
We don’t know why this happened, but it’s brought up worries about the safety of PlayStation’s systems.
It looks like there might be a mistake – the fact that some games aren’t accessible to everyone suggests the platform provider accidentally made them unavailable.
Sony rarely shares information, even when things are going well, so it’s doubtful we’ll get a clear answer about what happened. However, I’ve contacted them and will let you know if I receive a response.
