Pokémon Go Events Schedule for May 2026

July 2026 will celebrate a decade since the launch of Pokémon Go. Originally released by Niantic and The Pokémon Company (with Creatures, Inc. also involved), the game started as a bold idea: an expanding Pokémon world where players could catch and play with Pokémon using augmented reality and their real-world surroundings. Since then, Pokémon Go has grown and changed in many impressive ways.

This year marks a special anniversary for Pokémon Go, and there will be lots of exciting events for players! Throughout May, fans can enjoy classic raid days, community gatherings, and a big annual celebration. With the current season, Memories in Motion, running until June, it’s the perfect time to start playing or return to the game.

Shadow Entei Raid Day: May 2nd

Raid Days are exciting events where players team up to battle powerful Raid Bosses using their Pokémon. These bosses are often rare or legendary Pokémon, and defeating them earns players valuable rewards like berries and experience points. The best part? Players even have a chance to catch the boss Pokémon after winning! That’s what makes Raid Days so enjoyable.

Okay, so mark your calendars! On May 2nd, there’s a Raid Day happening, and it’s all about Shadow Entei. Basically, for three-hour stretches, Entei will be the only Pokémon showing up in raids. Now, Entei is already a really strong Legendary, but a Shadow Entei? That’s super rare! It’s going to be a tough battle, but this is a great chance to finally add it to my Pokédex. Entei shows up in raids pretty often, but a Shadow version is a big deal, so I definitely don’t want to miss out!

Lechonk Community Day: May 9th

Community Days are events focused on celebrating and giving back to the Pokémon GO community. Each month, a specific Pokémon – often one that’s rare to find – appears much more often in the game for a limited time. These events are great for evolving Pokémon or finding special versions. This month’s Community Day is expected to be particularly exciting.

On May 9th, the adorable pig Pokémon, Lechonk, is coming to Pokémon Go with a special Community Day event! This event will significantly increase the number of shiny Lechonk appearing in the game. Lechonk is from the 9th generation of Pokémon and can evolve into Oinkologne, making it a valuable addition to any trainer’s collection. As a Normal-type Pokémon, Lechonk and Oinkologne are also strong in battle, so this is a great opportunity to strengthen your team and complete your Pokédex!

Spring Marathon: May 12th – May 18th

Pokémon Go is celebrating Spring with a special event called the Spring Marathon, running from May 12th to 18th. Like other seasonal events in the game, it’s a limited-time experience with a story and themed challenges. During the Marathon, keep an eye out for special Pokémon wearing seasonal hats and marathon visors to add to your collection!

The game will continue to feature Timed and Field Research, offering players bonuses and special encounters as they complete tasks. You can expect a visit from Professor Oak as a result! Spring-themed Pokémon like Pikachu, Eevee, Happiny, Togepi, and Buneary will appear more often, making it a good time for new players to start collecting. The biggest addition is Flittle, a new psychic-type Pokémon that evolves into Espathra, and will be available for the first time ever.

Deino Community Day: May 16th

Community events are valuable because players get to help decide which Pokémon are featured. While Niantic listens to fan requests, some Pokémon haven’t been included yet. They aim to keep the game challenging and avoid making every Pokémon too easy to obtain. Fortunately, the upcoming Community Day on May 16th will be a big hit for fans of classic, dinosaur-themed Pokémon.

This Community Day focuses on Deino, a Pokémon that evolves into the powerful Hydreigon. Deino is a rare find, and evolving it into Zweilous and then Hydreigon is a great opportunity for players who enjoy battling in raids and defending Gyms. If you love those activities, this is the Community Day for you!

Super Mega Falinks Raid Day: May 23rd

Get ready for another Raid Day! On May 23rd, the spotlight is on Super Mega Falinks. This event is meant to excite players and give them something to look forward to. It features the popular Super Mega Raid format, adding extra challenge and encouraging participation. The big draw is the Mega evolution system – a powerful new way to battle with larger, stronger Pokémon first seen in the video games.

These events typically run for 3 to 6 hours, and players team up to defeat a powerful raid boss – in this case, Falinks. While regular Falinks are fairly common, the Mega Evolution is much harder to find. The event focuses on battling and obtaining the Mega Falinks, and also introduces an update letting players use Mega Energy to quickly raise their Pokémon’s Mega Level.

Pokémon GO Fest 2026: May 28th – June 1st

Pokémon Go Fest is typically the biggest event of the year for players. It’s a large celebration that happens both in the game and in the real world, often with major events held in Tokyo or throughout Japan. This year, the 10th anniversary celebrations are a key part of the festival, and Tokyo will be the center of the action starting May 28th. Eventually, the celebrations will expand worldwide, bringing new raids and Pokémon debuts to the game.

Following a successful event in Tokyo, Pokémon Go Fest will be held in cities like Chicago and Copenhagen. The festival offers players a chance to connect with the Pokémon Go community, catch rare Pokémon, and be a part of gaming history. Details on how to participate are available on the official Pokémon Go Fest website. If you miss this year’s event, don’t worry – plans are already underway for another Pokémon Go Fest in 2027!
