A reliable source familiar with Pokémon news has shared some discouraging updates about the upcoming Pokémon Winds and Waves games. After announcing the new titles in February, Game Freak and The Pokémon Company have been quiet about the details. The initial trailer only showed the game’s new region and the three starter Pokémon – Browt, Pombon, and Gecqua – and indicated a 2027 release. Unfortunately, it seems fans will have to wait a long time for more information.
A reliable Pokemon insider, @Riddler_Khu, is reporting that Pokemon Winds and Waves are now expected to launch in late 2027. Fans originally believed these Generation 10 games would come out this year, and many hoped for a release in early 2027. However, it seems the wait will be even longer – potentially another 18 months – making the anticipation even harder.
According to @Riddler_Khu, Game Freak doesn’t plan to share any further updates on Pokemon Winds and Waves this year. This likely means we won’t see more about these games until the next Pokemon Presents presentation, which usually happens on Pokemon Day (February 27th). While it would be a long wait for new information, the development of Pokemon Legends: Z-A also had a similar gap between announcements before its release.
With few new Pokémon announcements expected this year, Nintendo and Game Freak’s recent re-release of Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen on Switch makes sense. Along with the launch of Pokémon Pokopia, these games gave fans a lot to enjoy at the beginning of 2026. However, it doesn’t look like this excitement will continue, potentially leading to a quieter period before the release of Pokémon Winds and Waves.
Currently, the only confirmed information is that Pokemon Winds and Waves are scheduled to launch in 2027 and will be available only on the Nintendo Switch 2. We’ll share more details about the Generation 10 Pokemon games on ComicBook as soon as we have them.
