I was super hyped when the Deluxe Pack: ex was announced, like a lot of other Pokémon TCG Pocket players. It seemed like a great way to finally snag those really rare cards we’ve been chasing. And it is… mostly. The problem is, any cards you pull from these packs only register to this card dex. So, if you’re like me and trying to finish collecting older sets, it’s really frustrating to pull a card and then realize it won’t count towards completing those collections. Thankfully, the folks at DeNA are listening to us players again, and they’re planning some big changes to how the card dex works in Pokémon TCG Pocket, which is awesome!
Many players, including myself, have been disappointed when getting cards from the limited-time packs we’ve been trying to collect, only to find we still need other cards to complete the original sets. Fans have expressed strong concerns about this issue in Pokemon TCG Pocket, and it seems DeNA, the game developer, has listened. They announced plans on October 24th to improve how cards are organized, but the update will take a significant amount of time to implement.
Pokemon TCG Pocket Confirms Card Dex Update for “After Summer 2026”

Okay, awesome news for anyone who uses the Pokemon TCG Pocket app! They’re changing how the app tracks cards that show up in different booster packs. Basically, if I pull a rarer card – like a 4 Diamond rarity – from an older set, say Genetic Apex, it’ll now register in both that original set and any newer sets it’s included in. This is huge because it means sets like the Deluxe Pack: ex won’t have completely separate card lists anymore. It’ll all be connected, which is way more convenient!
Here’s the good news: these updates will be applied to your collection automatically, even to cards you’ve already collected! For example, that Decidueye ex card you recently got will eventually show up in the correct spot within the Celestial Guardians set, instead of just the Deluxe Pack: ex. However, if you’re hoping to see this improvement happen quickly, there’s some disappointing news. This significant update to Pokemon TCG Pocket won’t be released this month, or even this year. The changes are now expected to arrive sometime after the summer of 2026.
Many fans are confused by the timing of this update. While it might not seem like a huge change, the development could be complicated. Pokemon TCG Pocket is already planning a large anniversary update with several new features, leading some to wonder why this card collection update couldn’t be included now or soon after. However, it won’t be released for several months.
We have some exciting updates coming to the Pokémon TCG Pocket Edition’s card collection! Thanks to everyone for being such a great community and for sharing your feedback.

The delay might be because this update, planned for after summer 2026, includes more than just changes to the card list. According to Pokemon TCG Pocket, the update will also improve how the card dex looks and works. It sounds like this could be a significant redesign of the entire card dex system in Pokemon TCG Pocket.
This news confirms that DeNA is addressing the problem with its limited-time packs. It will still take some time for older sets to be completed, but players will eventually receive the cards they earned from the Deluxe Pack: ex event. With more similar packs planned, it’s positive that DeNA is fixing this issue quickly. Just like with the trading complaints, this fast response to player feedback is a good indicator for the future of Pokemon TCG Pocket.
