Pokemon TCG Reveals New Mega Rayquaza-Themed Delta Reign Expansion

American Pokémon Trading Card Game fans are excited for the July 17th arrival of Pokémon TCG: Mega Evolution – Pitch Black. With that release nearing, The Pokémon Company has announced the next expansion in the Mega Evolution series: Delta Reign. It will be available in English this fall.

I’m so hyped! The official Pokemon YouTube channel just released a teaser for the new Pokemon TCG: Mega Evolution – Delta Reign set, and it looks amazing! Rayquaza is taking center stage in its Mega Evolved form, which is awesome. What’s really cool is that this is the first time a new Pokemon TCG set is launching at the same time as content for Pokemon TCG Pocket on mobile! Both are coming out on November 6th, and I can’t wait to see everything that’s included.

Pokemon TCG and Pokemon TCG Pocket Tease New Rayquaza-Themed Expansions

The Pokémon Trading Card Game has been showcasing Mega Evolutions, recently focusing on new additions from Pokémon Legends: Z-A. After the release of the popular Pitch Black expansion featuring Mega Darkrai, the next US release will spotlight the fan-favorite Gen 3 Legendary Pokémon, Rayquaza. Naturally, this Mega Evolution-focused expansion will also include Mega Rayquaza. While not a new Mega Pokémon from Legends: Z-A, Rayquaza’s widespread popularity suggests this will be a highly sought-after expansion.

It’s also surprising to learn that Pokemon TCG Pocket will release a related set on the very same day as Delta Reign. This Pocket version of the expansion is called Ruler of the Skies, and it will be available in-game on November 6th, coinciding with the retail launch of Delta Reign. This reveal comes much earlier than usual for new TCG Pocket sets, though details are still limited. You can see a first look at these upcoming Pokemon TCG sets featuring Mega Rayquaza in the official announcement video linked below.

Okay, so this is pretty huge! For the first time ever, a new Pokémon set is coming out at the same time for both the physical trading card game and the mobile game. The sets will have different names, but they’re all about Mega Rayquaza, which is awesome. We didn’t get a ton of details in the teaser yet, but it looks like a lot of the cards will be shared between versions. I already got a sneak peek at what Mega Rayquaza ex will look like in both sets, and they even showed off the booster pack design for Pokemon TCG Pocket!

So, I just found out that Delta Reign is going to be the English name for the Japanese set Storm Emerelda, which drops in Japan in July 2026! Right now, everyone’s hyped about Abyss Eye and the US release of Pitch Black, but we haven’t gotten a great look at what’s happening with Mega Rayquaza over in Japan. It seems like it’s going to be a huge launch though, especially because they’re tying it into Pokemon TCG Pocket. If you’re having trouble finding boosters in stores, this Pocket thing might actually let us see the cards early – as long as the designs are pretty much the same!
