Pokemon TCG Reveals Stunning New Illustration Rare Promos For Upcoming Special Collection

Good news for Pokémon Trading Card Game fans! The May 22nd release of the Mega Evolution – Chaos Rising expansion is almost here, and we’re already getting a sneak peek at some amazing cards from the Pitch Black expansion coming in July. Plus, The Pokémon Company is releasing a new set as part of the 30th anniversary First Partner Collection. We’ve seen some early looks at the beautiful Illustration Rares in this set, and it looks like it will be a popular one to collect.

Okay, so back in March, the first set of the Pokemon TCG – First Partner Collection came out, and it had these awesome new Illustration Rare promo cards for the original Kanto starters, plus the starters from Sinnoh and Alola. They all had a special 30th anniversary stamp and really cool artwork. Now, we’re getting a sneak peek at the Illustration Rare promos for the First Partner Collection – Series 2, which is dropping on June 19th! I can’t wait to see those!

Pokemon TCG – First Partner Collection Series 2 Release Date & Details

The next set of special promos, part of the First Partner Collection series, will showcase Pokémon from the Johto, Unova, and Galar regions. Similar to the first release, these promos include a 30th anniversary stamp and feature colorful, abstract artwork representing each Pokémon’s home region. The Pokémon Company recently shared a preview of these new promos on their official X (formerly Twitter) account, and they’re just as beautiful as the first set.

As a collector, I’m really excited about these promo cards! They’re illustrated in a cool Rare style and feature all the first partner Pokémon – Chikorita, Cyndaquil, Totodile, Snivy, Tepig, Oshawot, Grookey, Scorbunny, and Sobble. Each Pokémon has its own unique artwork, but they all share a similar color scheme and feel, so they look great together as a trio representing each region. There are 9 promo cards total, and if you buy the Series 2 products, you’ll get 3 cards per purchase – it’s all based on luck of the pack, so hopefully I can collect them all!

The Pokémon Trading Card Game’s Second First Partner Illustration Collection will be available starting June 19th for $14.99. Here’s a look at what you’ll find inside:

  • Promo Booster Pack with 3 Illustration Rare Promos
  • 2 Regular Booster Packs from recent sets
  • 1 Sticker Sheets

The new Series 2 First Partner Illustration Collection will include booster packs from the Mega Evolution – Perfect Order and Chaos Rising sets, plus a special promo pack. This gives Pokémon fans another chance to collect cards from these popular sets, and also a shot at getting the new Illustration Rare promo cards. At a price of $14.99, it’s a good value – if they don’t sell out quickly.

This new release adds to the May and July sets, Chaos Rising and Pitch Black, giving Pokémon card collectors in the U.S. more opportunities to expand their collections. Plus, a special 30th anniversary collection is planned for September, with more details coming soon.
