Poker Face cancelled after two seasons – but Game of Thrones icon is wanted to replace Natasha Lyonne

Peacock has cancelled ‘Poker Face’ after its second season, but the show isn’t over yet. It might be picked up by another network with a different star.

The show ‘Poker Face,’ starring Natasha Lyonne, won’t be back for a third season on its current network. However, creator Rian Johnson plans to find a new home for the series, according to Deadline.

If the show comes back, there’s a surprising change: instead of Natasha Lyonne as Charlie Cale, Peter Dinklage, known from Game of Thrones, is expected to take on the lead role.

The plan is to recast the role of Charlie with a new lead actor every two seasons, the publication reports.

If another streaming service decides to keep the show going, I’m happy to hear that Natelie Lyonne will still be involved as an executive producer. It’s great when the creative voices stay connected to a project, even after it moves!

Johnson and Lyonne shared in a statement that they’ve been planning this next step since they finished writing the last episode of season 2.

They added, “We’re really enjoying Poker Face and want to keep the story going. If you give us enough interest, you might see Charlie Cale back on the road again.”

Poker Face debuted in 2021, inspired by classic murder-mystery-of-the-week shows like Columbo.

The show centered around Lyonne’s character, Cale, a detective who’s naturally good at spotting when people aren’t telling the truth. Over its two seasons, it’s included appearances by many well-known guest stars, including John Mulaney and Cynthia Erivo.

The show has been highly praised by critics, earning six Emmy nominations and an Emmy win for Judith Light’s performance as a guest star in the first season.
