Power Ranking The Boys’ 5 Strongest Characters After Season 5, Episode 7

Following a period of relatively unchanged power levels, The Boys Season 5, Episode 7 makes some minor shifts in the ranking of the show’s strongest characters. Warning: Spoilers ahead for Season 5, Episode 7! The episode, titled “The Frenchman, the Female, and the Man Called Mother’s Milk,” follows Homelander receiving V1 in the previous episode and shows just how much more powerful he’s become. While he doesn’t unleash the massive destruction some viewers anticipated, several scenes this week demonstrate his increased speed and strength.

His increased power is making things difficult for The Boys, and they’re having to rethink their strategy. This might mean a new supe is about to surpass Butcher in the rankings – at least, that’s what we believe. Plus, Marie Moreau finally appears in Season 5 of The Boys, and we’re wondering where she fits into the power dynamic. Episode 7 doesn’t make her abilities clear, and it’s hard to get a read on how strong she is. With everything that happens in that episode, here’s our updated ranking of the most powerful characters as we head into the series finale.

5) Kimiko

In the latest episode of The Boys, Kimiko tries to replicate the process that gave Soldier Boy his powers, and it appears she, Frenchie, and Sister Sage succeed. Although Frenchie’s death prevents a full display of her newfound ability, she withstands massive radiation, and Frenchie confirms the experiment worked. This suggests Kimiko can now take away other supes’ powers while still being able to quickly heal from injuries. The idea is she can get close to powerful opponents, neutralize them, and then recover. While Kimiko isn’t particularly strong physically, her new powers place her above Butcher in terms of overall threat. However, it’s too early to say if she’s more powerful than supes like Ryan, Marie, or Soldier Boy until we see her in action.

4) Ryan Butcher

Even though Ryan hasn’t been featured much in the recent episodes of The Boys, we’re slightly lowering his position in our rankings for now. He and Marie Moreau have been closely matched each week, but it’s hard to compare them accurately since we haven’t seen enough of either character. Right now, they aren’t as powerful or experienced as characters like Soldier Boy and Homelander, but they both show promise and could reach that level in the future.

Okay, so Season 5 has firmly established that Ryan just isn’t going to be the one to take down Homelander. But Marie? She’s a different story. Episode 7 really starts positioning her as a legitimate threat, or at least a crucial ally in bringing him down. I’m a little confused by Starlight’s sudden claim she can’t control her powers – didn’t Gen V Season 2 explore that already? – but M.M. straight-up says Marie has “Homelander-level strength or some s.” Even if that’s a bit of an overstatement, Starlight is asking for her help at the end of the hour. The show is clearly building Marie up as someone who could actually challenge Homelander, and potentially deal with the V1 coursing through his veins. That’s why, right now, I think she’s a more promising contender than Ryan.

3) Marie Moreau

After being absent for the first half of Season 5, Marie Moreau from Gen V finally appears in The Boys. Her introduction feels a little disappointing, especially given the recent cancellation of Gen V. However, the episode “The Frenchman, the Female, and the Man Called Mother’s Milk” sets up a potentially bigger role for her as the season concludes. Despite Starlight mysteriously losing some of her powers, she ends the episode by requesting help from Marie and Jordan. While we don’t know exactly what she’s planning, Marie has the ability to control blood, which could be key to defeating Homelander. The supe virus is no longer effective against him, and V1 makes him incredibly powerful in a fight. Marie’s unique abilities might allow her to weaken or even kill him by manipulating his blood.

2) Soldier Boy

Following the seventh episode of The Boys Season 5, Soldier Boy is still considered very powerful, but his appearances in the main storyline are over. Homelander easily defeated him this week, putting him back in a frozen state, which highlights just how much stronger Homelander has become. While Soldier Boy and Homelander were relatively matched in strength before – despite Soldier Boy lacking abilities like flight and heat vision – Homelander now clearly dominates. It’s unlikely anyone else could beat him, and it doesn’t seem anyone will get the opportunity. Even though Soldier Boy remains a powerful supe, it won’t affect the final outcome of the series.

1) Homelander

Okay, after this week’s episode of The Boys, let’s be real – Homelander is officially the most terrifying villain on TV, period. We already knew V1 made him stronger, especially with that insane heat vision, but this episode really showed just how much he’s changed. Seeing him move against Frenchie? Lightning fast. And that fight with Soldier Boy? He’s clearly way stronger physically now. But it’s not just brute force; he’s getting this creepy control over everyone, too. He straight-up kills the President and then tells Oh-Father to silence anyone who doesn’t worship him! Honestly, right now, he seems unstoppable, both in terms of power and influence. I have no idea how The Boys are going to take him down, but it’s going to take everything they’ve got – a real team effort. And you know what? That’s what makes him such a fantastic villain. He’s genuinely frightening!
