A highlight of the original PowerWash Simulator was its downloadable content, which cleverly incorporated popular franchises from games and other media. Players could clean areas and objects from titles like Final Fantasy VII Remake, or even visit Bikini Bottom in an expansion based on SpongeBob SquarePants.
FuturLab, the developer behind PowerWash Simulator 2, has announced they will be offering similar support for that game as well.
So, next year looks awesome! The developers are planning three big DLC packs, one each in the first, second, and third quarters. They’re keeping what those DLCs will be about a secret for now, but they did say they’ll be releasing free story jobs alongside them, part of something called Caldera Chronicles. Just to be clear, you’ll have to pay for the big IP-based DLCs, but the Caldera Chronicles stuff will be totally free.
The game is getting even better with new features, helpful improvements, more community events, and extra customization options for furniture and character appearances. These updates will start rolling out in 2026, but before then, the developers at FuturLab will continue to focus on bug fixes and performance enhancements. The game launches tomorrow on PS5.
Our review of PowerWash Simulator 2 on PS5 gave it a 7 out of 10. We liked the variety of levels, better tools, and the calming, repetitive gameplay. As we noted, it’s not a completely new game, but a significant improvement over the first one. If you enjoyed the peaceful feeling of cleaning in the original, this sequel is definitely worth checking out, but it probably won’t change the minds of those who weren’t fans before.
