Next month, Prime Video will release a new series starring Nicolas Cage. Viewers will be able to choose between two different versions of the show, and a full trailer is now available.
Fans will be able to watch Spider-Noir in either full color or classic black and white when it releases. Both versions will premiere on Prime Video on May 27, 2026, after an initial broadcast on MGM+ on May 25. A new trailer was first shown at CCXPMX26 in Mexico City and is now available to view online. You can watch the full trailer below to get a preview of the upcoming series.
Spider-Noir Finally Arrives on Prime Video
Nicolas Cage plays Ben Reilly in live-action, having previously voiced the character in the Spider-Verse animated movies. The film, Spider-Noir, centers around Cage’s character – a hardened, struggling private investigator in 1930s New York – who is forced to confront his past and a personal tragedy while acting as the city’s sole superhero.
The show also stars Lamorne Morris (known from Fargo and New Girl), Li Jun Li (Sinners, Babylon), Karen Rodriguez (The Hunting Wives, Acapulco), Abraham Popoola (Atlas, Slow Horses), Jack Huston (Boardwalk Empire, Day of the Fight), and Brendan Gleeson (The Banshees of Inisherin, Harry Potter). Special guest stars include Lukas Haas, Cameron Britton, Cary Christopher, Michael Kostroff, Scott MacArthur, Joe Massingill, Whitney Rice, Amanda Schull, Andrew Caldwell, Amy Aquino, Andrew Robinson, and Kai Caster.
Sony Pictures Television is producing the series. The first two episodes were directed by Harry Bradbeer, known for his work on Fleabag and Killing Eve, who also served as an executive producer. Oren Uziel (The Lost City, 22 Jump Street) and Steve Lightfoot (The Punisher, Shantaram) are co-showrunners and executive producers as well. Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Amy Pascal – the team behind Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse – are also executive producers, alongside Aditya Sood, Dan Shear, and Pavila Hatoupois.
The Series Is Lighter Than Fans Might Expect
Miller pointed out that while the new series is in the style of film noir, people often forget it isn’t always heavy and dramatic. He noted that classic noir star Humphrey Bogart often had a playful side and a knack for cleverness, suggesting he actually shared a lot of characteristics with the cartoon character Bugs Bunny.
Lord explained that the show has a playful energy, much like its star, Nic, who he believes is iconic because of it. He also noted that the showrunner, Oren Uziel, with whom they previously worked on the Jump Street movies, brings that same lightheartedness. Ultimately, the show aims to be a compelling character drama and mystery, but also something that doesn’t take itself too seriously and feels nimble and fun.
Spider-Noir premieres globally on Prime Video on May 27, 2026.
