It’s Not Like That Is A Surprise Breakout Show

Created by Ian Deitchman and Kristin Robinson, the show It’s Not Like That centers on Malcolm, a pastor learning to raise three children after the loss of his wife. He finds a connection with his friend, Lori, who is recently divorced and has two teenage children. Once close, their families shared everything, but now they’re both figuring out single parenthood amidst the everyday challenges of raising kids.

Despite exploring themes of faith, the show It’s Not Like That unexpectedly became a hit by focusing on its characters’ emotional journeys. Even the early episodes demonstrate the show’s core is about how people cope with loss, pain, and the chance for new relationships—all without preaching a religious message. Adding to the intrigue is the developing romance between Malcolm and Lori, as their long-standing friendship evolves into something more.

Will There Be A Season 2 of It’s Not Like That?

As of today, there’s no official word on whether It’s Not Like That will be renewed for a second season. However, both viewers and those involved with the show are hoping for another season, as the story leaves plenty of possibilities open for future episodes.

While dark and intense shows are popular, It’s Not Like That offers something different: a warm, funny, and emotionally honest look at everyday lives, with a touch of romance. This refreshing approach is why it’s become a standout success for Prime Video.
