Following the releases of Inazuma Eleven and Fantasy Life, Level-5, the renowned game developer, has announced that the Professor Layton series will at last be coming to PlayStation 5 in 2026.
The newest Professor Layton game, Professor Layton and the New World of Steam, will be released globally on PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, and PC at the same time. It’s also confirmed to be coming to the next-generation Nintendo Switch console.
Here’s a new trailer, confirming the target platforms:
The game will work with a mouse on PlayStation consoles. You can simply plug it in with a USB cable and use it to play if you prefer.
Professor Layton is a popular series of puzzle adventure games that combines a story-driven experience with challenging logic puzzles. The latest installment includes updated 3D cutscenes, smoother character movement, and introduces new friends to join you on your journey.
I’ve been a fan of the Professor Layton series for ages, and I always thought it was a bit of a Nintendo thing, since Level-5 always put their games on handhelds like the DS and 3DS – and even phones! So it’s seriously surprising – and really cool – to see a Layton game finally coming to a PlayStation console after almost 20 years. It’s a big deal!
