Prolific Golden Age Actress June Lockhart, Star of ‘Lassie’ and ‘Lost In Space,’ Dies Aged 100

Fans of classic television and film are saddened to learn of the passing of June Lockhart at age 100. She was best known for her roles in productions like Meet Me in St. Louis and Lassie.

As a classic movie fan, I was really saddened to hear about the passing of June Lockhart. She was one of those last connections to Hollywood’s Golden Age, and her career lasted an incredible nine decades – she really spanned several generations of performers. I just learned she passed away peacefully on Thursday, with her daughter Elizabeth and granddaughter Christianna by her side. Her family confirmed it was due to natural causes. Elizabeth actually released a statement through Deadline, and it said…

My mother saw acting as her profession, but she truly loved journalism, politics, science, and space exploration – especially NASA. She was proud of her role in Lost in Space, and it meant the world to her to learn she’d inspired future astronauts, who often told her so when visiting NASA. She valued that impact even more than all the other television and film roles she had throughout her career.
