A highly-rated PlayStation 4 game is leaving PlayStation Plus soon, and players will lose access to a truly immersive experience. 11-11: Memories Retold is a World War I adventure game released in November 2018, intentionally timed to coincide with the 100th anniversary of the armistice. It was created through a collaboration between DigixArt and Aardman Animations – the renowned studio behind beloved claymation characters like Wallace & Gromit, Chicken Run, and Shaun the Sheep. The two development teams combined their skills to produce the unique and captivating game, 11-11: Memories Retold.
Recently, PlayStation Plus removed several games, including Grand Theft Auto 3: The Definitive Edition, Battlefield 2042, and 11-11: Memories Retold, from its library as part of a regular update. While PS Plus often changes its free game selection, many players are disappointed to see 11-11: Memories Retold go, as it’s a visually stunning and memorable adventure game. The game starts in November 1916, with Harry Lambert enlisting as a war photographer hoping to win the affection of Julia, who owns the photography studio where he works. His journey takes him abroad, while another man, Kurt Waldner, also joins the military after learning his son is in danger, determined to find him on the front lines.
The game 11-11: Memories Retold is visually stunning, often resembling a living painting. This artistic choice makes it more captivating than if it had used realistic graphics. The game features voice acting from Elijah Wood and Sebastian Koch, who play the characters Harry and Kurt. The story unfolds during the final two years of World War I, a conflict now sadly remembered as WWI.
As the story unfolds, the two main characters eventually meet. Though they’re on opposing sides, they share similar motivations, which makes the story more relatable. This shifts the focus from a large-scale conflict to a personal fight for survival and maintaining one’s values. It’s unusual to find a game with such powerful themes. The developers clearly invested significant time and effort into creating a beautifully written story and stunning visuals, making it a truly remarkable achievement in modern gaming.
11-11: Memories Retold Is Well Worth Any Gamer’s Time
PlayStation Plus subscribers know games don’t stay on the service forever, but it’s still disappointing when a good one like 11-11: Memories Retold gets removed. Luckily, you can still play it on Steam or Xbox One. If you want to play on your PS5, you’ll need a physical copy. It’s a fantastic game with seven different endings, making it worth revisiting! 11-11: Memories Retold will be leaving PS Plus on December 16, 2025, so be sure to play it before it’s gone.
