Battlefield Hardline, the police-focused game, will no longer be available for purchase on the PlayStation Store starting May 22nd. The game’s online servers will then be shut down a month after that.
On their official X (formerly Twitter) account, an EA representative shared the following announcement:
Battlefield Hardline will no longer be available for purchase digitally on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 after May 22nd. This includes the game itself and any downloadable content.
Online services for the game will stop working on June 22nd. Although online features will no longer be supported on Xbox One and PlayStation 4, players can still enjoy the game’s single-player mode if they already own it.
If you already own the game, you’ll still be able to enjoy the single-player campaign, even after the online servers are shut down.
It should be added that this game’s PS3 servers were already shutdown in 2024.
We first reviewed Battlefield Hardline back in 2015, and at the time, we considered it a decent attempt – giving it a 7 out of 10.
Some people think Battlefield Hardline is more of a large expansion pack than a completely new game, but that’s not entirely accurate. While the gameplay is similar to other Battlefield titles, the setting and amount of content are different enough to justify it being a standalone release. It’s a solid game that deserves credit for its unique idea, but whether it’s worth playing really depends on how much you liked past Battlefield games and if you’re interested in a police-focused first-person shooter.
