Several highly anticipated games launching in September won’t be optimized for the PS5 Pro. While these games *will* work on the PS5 Pro – as all games on the PlayStation Store are required to be playable on it – they won’t take advantage of the console’s extra power. The PS5 Pro might offer a slight performance boost, but these games aren’t designed to utilize the console’s full capabilities.
Fortunately, several major games launching in September 2025 will be enhanced for the PS5 Pro, including popular titles like *EA Sports FC 26*, *NHL 26*, *Hell Is Us*, and *NBA 2K26*. However, if you don’t enjoy sports games, there aren’t many options currently announced. More significantly, the number of games *not* receiving PS5 Pro enhancements is much larger. While this could change, there’s no indication these games will be updated for the new console yet. It’s common for developers to add support after a game’s release, as seen with last year’s PS5 exclusive, *Silent Hill 2 Remake*, but that can take several months. PS5 Pro owners might want to wait before playing certain games, hoping for future updates.
Hollow Knight: Silksong
Hollow Knight: Silksong is a highly anticipated game, and one of the most significant releases of 2025, judging by the number of players already interested and the excellent reviews it’s receiving. While the game isn’t specifically optimized for the PS5 Pro, that likely won’t be a major drawback, as it isn’t a particularly demanding title technically. However, it’s still disappointing for many fans who have been eagerly waiting for its release.
Dying Light: The Beast
It’s strange that *Dying Light: The Beast* isn’t optimized for the PS5 Pro, especially since *Dying Light 2* is. Techland specifically added PS5 Pro support to *Dying Light 2* after the console was released, so it’s a good sign that *The Beast* might get similar support later. However, the lack of this optimization at launch is a little confusing.
Borderlands 4
Borderlands 4 isn’t optimized for the PS5 Pro, and actually runs with some problems that are specific to that console. Gearbox is aware of these issues and is working to fix them. The game is also demanding on all platforms, including PCs, based on its minimum system requirements. Because of these technical challenges, it might be best for PS5 Pro owners to wait for a patch before playing Borderlands 4.
Cronos: The New Dawn
The highly anticipated horror game releasing in September 2025 won’t be optimized for the PS5 Pro, and it’s unlikely to be ready in time for Halloween. This isn’t entirely surprising, given the developer, Bloober Team, was slow to add PS5 features to their previous game, the *Silent Hill 2 Remake*. Interestingly, the game *is* confirmed to work well on the Steam Deck, making the lack of PS5 Pro support a bit unusual.
