Recent leaks about the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day movie hint that the Punisher, Frank Castle, might be pushed to do something even the villains haven’t. The reports suggest his violent approach will be connected to the film’s main plot involving mutations, leaving fans wondering how far Marvel and Sony are willing to take the story.
Punisher rumored to kill Peter in Spider-Man: Brand New Day
A user on X, @MyTimeToShineHello, is claiming that Spider-Man is killed by The Punisher in the ‘Brand New Day’ storyline. According to the leak, Peter Parker turns into the Man-Spider, leading Frank Castle to take his life. The post, which appeared on April 2, 2026, has already received 29,000 views.
The idea that the character will transform into a Man-Spider fits with what many fans have already guessed based on the trailers. Several websites, like Polygon, have suggested the movie might draw inspiration from the classic Spider-Man story arc, “The Six Arms Saga.” Others believe the film could also take elements from the “The Other” storyline from 2005-2006.
The trailer released on March 18, 2026, showed that Peter Parker’s powers are changing. Specifically, it revealed he now has naturally-produced web-shooters and his eyes have turned black. Sony reported the trailer gained an impressive 718.6 million views in just one day.
In a March 2026 interview with GamesRadar, Tom Holland talked about the relationship between his Spider-Man and the Punisher. He explained that the two characters start out disliking each other but eventually develop a playful, sibling-like rivalry, with the Punisher acting like an older brother to Spider-Man.
Kevin Feige recently discussed plans to include the Punisher in Marvel Cinematic Universe projects, aiming for a more grounded approach focusing on street-level crime rather than large-scale threats. He also stated the character will have a unique and distinct feel compared to how it’s been portrayed before, according to GamesRadar.
Jon Bernthal emphasized to ScreenRant the importance of maintaining the Punisher’s character consistency with his previous portrayal in ‘The Punisher: One Last Kill.’ However, reports of his potential return haven’t been officially confirmed by either Sony Pictures or Marvel Studios.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is scheduled for release on July 31, 2026.
