Although Sylvester Stallone left the Rambo series in 2019 with “Rambo: Last Blood,” which was part of a franchise that earned over $880 million, it’s been announced that there will be a prequel to the Rambo storyline. (Notice how they cleverly titled the first film “First Blood.”)
The upcoming prequel, inspired by David Morrell’s 1972 novel “First Blood,” seems to delve into the origins of its protagonist – a troubled Vietnam War veteran and skilled warrior in weaponry, hand-to-hand combat, and guerrilla warfare. This role is set to be played by Noah Centino, who gained attention with his role in “The Fosters” and further rose to fame with his charming performance as Peter Kavinsky in the Netflix films “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before.” Centino has also shared screen time with Dwayne Johnson in “Black Adam,” portraying Atom Smasher, and recently starred as Brian Zawi in Ray Mendoza and Alex Garland’s “Warfare” alongside Joseph Quinn, Kit Connor, Charles Melton, and D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai.
I, Jalmari Helander, known for films like “Rare Exports,” “Big Game,” and the intense “Sisu,” am set to direct the Rambo prequel from a screenplay penned by the talented duo Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani, who have also worked on “Black Adam.” We plan to commence principal photography in October in Thailand, with a captivating story that delves into a young John Rambo’s experiences during the Vietnam War. It seems that Sylvester Stallone is apprised of this project, and there’s a possibility he may make a cameo appearance if it suits his preferences.
It seems extremely probable that it’ll turn out chaotic, given the fourth and fifth movies as a reference. We’re really excited about it!
Given the chaos in the fourth and fifth films, it appears highly likely that this will be a messy affair. We can hardly contain our excitement!
