Rebecca Ferguson is a highly sought-after actress, particularly known for her work in science fiction. Her popular Apple TV+ series is currently gaining renewed attention.
The show first came out in 2021, and its second season was released in late 2024. The final episode aired on January 17, 2025, exactly one year ago. Now, without a new season available, Silo has unexpectedly returned to the top charts on Apple TV, according to FlixPatrol.
The sci-fi series became a worldwide success on its streaming platform, joining other popular sci-fi shows like Pluribus and Invasion. While it didn’t initially gain much attention in the United States, Silo became a hit in South America, Asia, Europe, and Africa.
Graham Yost developed the Silo series, which is based on the books by Hugh Howey. Although a movie adaptation was discussed as early as 2012, those plans were abandoned. Eventually, Apple TV+ acquired the rights and produced the show, which premiered in May 2021.
The series Silo is set in a future where the last ten thousand people on Earth live in a massive underground silo to protect themselves from a poisonous and dangerous outside world. No one remembers why the silo was built, and those who investigate its origins risk their lives.
The series centers on Juliette, played by Rebecca Ferguson, a skilled engineer investigating the death of someone close to her. Her search for answers quickly unravels a much larger and more dangerous mystery, where uncovering the truth proves to be as perilous as the lies she encounters.
The show boasted a talented cast including Rashida Jones, David Oyelowo, Common, Tim Robbins, Harriet Walter, as well as Avi Nash, Rick Gomez, Chinaza Uche, Shane McRae, Remmie Milner, Alexandria Riley, Clare Perkins, Billy Postlethwaite, and Steve Zahn.
Silo Will Officially End With Season 4
Even though Season 3 hasn’t been released yet, the creators of Silo, including Graham Yost (known for Justified), and Apple TV already know how the show will end. Based on the original book series, Silo is planned to conclude after four seasons. Good news for fans: filming for Season 3 finished in May, and they quickly began working on Season 4.
The show has been very well-received by critics, earning a 90% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. However, audience approval is lower, at 67%.
Viewers criticized Season 2 for being overly gloomy, with some finding it difficult to watch. While showrunner Graham Yost advised viewers to adjust their screen brightness, Season 3 will feature a different visual style thanks to a new cinematographer. The previous cinematographer, Baz Irvine, had to leave the project due to health issues.
Silo is streaming on Apple TV. Season 3 doesn’t have a release date.
